The car in the back ground is the Legendary 501 car. This is a hint of some very cool film I am getting from Don in the mail via Shane Carson. Word has it the film is awesome.

Lonnie Snowden told me at Wichita a couple of years ago the Purple 99 Vicky Bodied super is made from a chassis from the Cains or Looney family. Now I wonder if that chassis is the 501? In the late 70's Duane Cain drove this car as #58.

The flagman that replaced Mike Connors after being killed had that Al Alexander look? Can't tell from the video but he sure looks smooth waving the checkerd flag. Just has the legend Al looked. That would take somone to takeover the flagging on that day. I was there also. I wonder when Al quit flagging?

This was Mike's first major win. he started driving the 17 for Norman in mid season and had finished second to Don at the Wichita NCRA race. This was probably Don Engel's last race. Thanks Brian

Crazy , yet likeable part to me is- Don could invite people to a revival, and then beat the pants off of them (if he had the same size engine, and sometimes didn't even need that).
We have more Tulsa footage coming.

Another one of my favorites. Don and Darrell were a great team! Thanks to Don, Shane and Brian for posting these!
