I like the picks so far...it is always a safe bet to put your money on Ronnie Gardner, David "Dynamite" Cardey, or the Williams boys, especially since they've all proven they can put their cars in the winner's circle at VRP on any given night...against any group of sprint cars.
But what about the "World's Fastest Walnut Farmer"...Greg Bragg?! Greg will be making his first trip back to Victorville Raceway Park since the USAC-CRA show in March, and I say keep on eye on the always fast Moose-Moblie! The veteran from Visalia is always fast and the team has really been clicking recently.
While we're on the subject, don't count out the Bender family...Bobby put the family sprinter on the podium last race at VRP...IN A 360!!! He also got to take home the extra BONUS CASH by schooling some potent 410's!
It's gonna be interesting to see the Gaunt boys back in action...last race was their first ever in a 410 and they were extremely impressive before the Turn 1 mayhem wiped out both of the brand-new, beautiful Sleds. Maybe Rickie's "WFO mojo" will continue for them, as it worked so well for Mike Kirby last weekend in the Pro Late Model main event.
We're set to repeat history made at the last VRP sprint car show, as we'll have all 3 Williams brothers racing against each other once again...in matching John Jory black & silver hot rods!
Don't forget we also have the Senior Sprint division racing tomorrow, including previous VRP main event winner Ed Schwarz.
One of my favorites, the popular and fast CDCRA Dwarf Cars will be returning to the 3/8 clay oval tomorrow night to put on another spectacular show. The Figueroa family will be tough to beat as always! Seth Wilson was a Dwarft Car Champion before his success in the Open Sprint Car division at Victorville Raceway Park...we wish him a speedy recovery from injuries suffered in March.
Also on hand will be the California Lightning Sprints, which will be making their debut appearance in 2011 at VRP. Former sprint car driver Dan Hillberg will be on hand to challenge point leader Brian Williams and the ultra-fast Kevin Michnowicz, son of sprint car veteran Bobby Michnowicz. Many of the sprint car drivers slated to be on hand tomorrow night honed their skills in these winged mini-sprints, including Tony Everhart (1994 Champion), Greg Bragg (2000, 2001, & 2002 Champion), David Cardey (2003 Champion), A.J. and Bobby Bender, and Johnny Bluntach. Other graduates of the series include Johnny Bates (2005 Champion), Darren Hagen, and Chris Rahe to name just a few.
And if that wasn't enough, the ever-exciting IMCA Pro Mods and Sport Mods will be back to sling mud and get all crossed up for the cash prizes. Last Saturday night, Tom "Slick" Smith put on a clinic (to say the very least) in the Sport Mod division, driving the #33d. Tomorrow, he will return in the familiar #31 to see what he can do agains the stout IMCA Pro Mod entries.
See ya at the High Desert bullring!

Cardey, Cody, Austin, Ronnie. Beyond that I dont know. Awesome racing tonight. Cardey was untouchable. Cody and Austin had a great race going with Cody catching him in the last 20' of the race. Someone flipped big time into Turn 3. I didnt catch the name but they were OK. I dont know how the car could be though!

It was Hobie Conway that took the high ride. Wow, what a show. I was concerned about track condition when I arrived, but true to their word, they kept working it and it got good. Very Good. Rickie's kids did a good job and allowed both cars to be rolled back on to the trailer.
The California Lightning Sprints were dominated by young Kevin Michnovich.
The dwarf cars put on a great show. The winner took the lead with just a few feet to the checkered flag.

My apologies to Bobby Michnowicz...I thought Kevin was driving the car last night, but instead he was home sick, so father Bobby drove the 21k into Victory Lane last night. Great show!

Perhaps we need a match race with Bobby and Kevin Michnowicz.
