Shake Up Jacob – It's Off to the Races

NEWTON (May 26, 2011) – "When it rains, it pours." If you ask Jacob and the rest of the Ossenfort racing team, they'll probably tell you exactly that. The team had prepared themselves for a three day weekend that unfortunately turned into only one night of a few hot laps, due to weather.

"They had called the races early at Rock Rapids on Friday night and at Huset's on Sunday, so we didn't even attempt the drive there; but for Saturday night's First Annual Loren Barstad Memorial event, it looked like we'd be able to get the race in. We were excited to be there and honor the memory of Loren. He was a great guy and he will be missed," said Jacob.

Jacob was able to draw for his starting position at Saturday's event in Hartford, South Dakota, and he drew a nice looking number eight pill, placing him on the front row for the night's fourth heat race; however, Mother Nature had other plans. "They tried really hard to get the race in, but the sky just opened up and poured and they had to call the race. It was an accomplishment for us though, as we were able to pull out of the pits under our own power this time! The last time we were caught in a thunderstorm at Hartford, they had to pull us out with a front end loader," Jacob said with a grin. The team hoped that their schedule would allow them to make it back for the event, which has been rescheduled to take place on May 28, but they will be traveling to Huron, South Dakota to compete in the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) 410 event at the Dakota State Fair Speedway.

With their fingers crossed and hopes that the weather will cooperate; it's off to the races for the team, who plan to head out for a three day holiday weekend following the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association through South Dakota.

Day one will land "Shake Up" Jacob and the Ossenfort Racing team in Huron, South Dakota for their Saturday night event. Last year Jacob took his first heat race win of the season during this event, running only his fifth night in his Don Ott powered 410. He and the Knology #99J also finished an astounding fourth place against twenty five of his fellow NOSA competitors.

The team will end their weekend with days two and three at Huset's Speedway, in Brandon, South Dakota where they'll compete in another NOSA 410 event. "We always look forward to a good race and Huset's has always been a good place to find one," said Jacob.

"It was a great weekend for us last year and we brought the car home with a new plan to go back at it again for this year," said Jacob's crew chief and dad, Todd Ossenfort. He and the entire team are looking forward to this weekend's events.

Be sure you make it out to cheer on "Shake Up" Jacob and his Knology #99J 410!

Vortex Racing Products

Vortex Racing Products is the industry leader in Sprintcar Wing design. From humble beginnings in 1995 where we began producing wings for our own use we quickly became engaged in producing wings for other race teams. Inspired by a life-long background in racecar design and manufacturing from our Dad, we (Paul and Lynton) continued to evolve into a company known for producing a product a little different from the rest. This ability to manufacture a Wing that is unique in design is what has been our success. With the use of our own race teams in Australia and America, we continually push the boundaries of design with an extensive testing program of our products each and every year. It is with our understanding of chassis design and manufacturing that we are able to communicate with our clients and tailor a wing package that best suits their driver, team and make of chassis. We call this," The Vortex Advantage". http://www.vortexracingproducts.com.au/
