BUD KAEDING SCORES 4TH USAC WC360 FEATURE
By Lance Jennings

HANFORD, CA – MAY 24, 2011... Last Saturday night, Campbell's Bud Kaeding scored his fourth victory of the year with the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series. The 3-Time USAC Silver Crown Champion also claimed the companion Taco Bravo Ocean Sprints vs. ASCS Southern California Sprint Car main event at Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. With the win, Kaeding is now tied for second on the career feature win list with last season's champion Craig Stidham.

With a four pill drawn for the main event inversion, Bud Kaeding shared the front row with Hollister's Ryan Bernal. Starting from the pole position of the twenty-two car feature, Bernal led the first ten circuits before falling to Kaeding. Bernal tried to battle back and threatened on several occasions, but could not retake the lead from the veteran driver. Kaeding took the 30-lap win, followed by Bernal, "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr., Richard VanderWeerd, and Jonathan Logan.

Piloting the Junior Bowman owned #29 Buster & Ziggy Enterprises / Kaeding Performance Maxim, Bud Kaeding took command on lap eleven on his way to the Hanford victory. Earlier in the night's action, the third generation driver was third quick in time trials and finished second in his heat race. As this writing goes to press, Bud is fourth in the point standings as the series heads to Santa Maria on June 4th.

Young Ryan Bernal finished second to Kaeding at the checkered flags. Driving Danny Olmstead's #11D S&S Automotive Maxim, the former Wingless Spec Sprint Champion was fourth fast in qualifications and won the night's fourth heat race sponsored by Competition Suspension Inc. and Keizer Wheels. Bernal currently has a thirty-one point advantage over the competition.

Tipton's "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr. claimed third at the Hanford clay oval. Piloting Junior Bowman's #2 Buster & Ziggy Enterprises / Kaeding Performance Bullet, Faria earned the Sander Engineering Fast Time Award over the twenty-eight car field. The veteran driver also won the 10-lap Extreme Muffler's Heat Race #1 and is currently seventh in the points.

Richard VanderWeerd of Visalia was fourth in the Hanford 30-lap feature. Driving Ron VanderWeerd's #10 VanderWeerd Construction / Battery Worx Maxim, the young driver was second fast in time trials and won the Saldana Racing Products / Keizer Wheels Heat Race #2. VanderWeerd is second in the championship points as the series returns to action at Santa Maria.

Hanford's Jonathan Logan raced to a fifth place finish after starting eleventh. Piloting the #32 New Image Designs Inc. / Mike Downing Racing Engines Eagle, the 2006 SCRA 360 Sprint Car Champion was twelfth quick on the night and third in his heat race. As this writing goes to press, the veteran driver is currently tied for twelfth in the point standings with Bakersfield's Rusty Carlile.

"Showtime" Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria won the night's third heat race, sponsored by DJ Safety. Driving the Kittle Motorsports' #18K Pace Lighting / PJ1 Sherman, Sheridan was nineteenth quick in time trials and finished eleventh in the feature. In limited starts, the former Bandit Sprint Car Champion is nineteenth in the points as the series heads to his home track.

Buena Park's Brody Roa won the 12-lap Keizer Wheels Semi-Main Event. Piloting the BR Performance #91R Stinger backed by L.A. Prep and "Biker" Bruce Fischer, the 2010 Wagsdash Champion was fifth fast in qualifications and sixth in his heat race. Roa placed sixth in the 30-lap feature and is currently tied for twenty-fifth in points with Kolby Araki.

In his first start with the USAC West Coast 360s, Tracy's Austin Liggett earned the Keizer Wheels' "Hard Charger / Best Passing Job" honors on the night. Driving Tim Liggett's #83 Excel Environmental Services / Home Connections Inc. Eagle, the Micro-Sprint graduate scored a fifteenth place finish after starting twenty-second. Earlier in the program, Liggett was twenty-seventh fast in time trials, seventh in his heat race, and finished sixth in the semi-main. Austin is now tied for fortieth in the standings with Bill Jones.

The USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series would like to thank Southwest Contractors, Hoosier Tire, Amsoil, BR Motorsports, ButlerBuilt, Competition Suspension Inc., Cory Kruseman's Sprint Car & Midget Driving School, Crow Enterprizes, DJ Safety, Extreme Mufflers, Hilborn Fuel Injection, Hinchman-Indy Racing Uniforms, Integra Shocks, Kaeding Performance, Keizer Wheels, King Racing Products, Port City Racing, Rod End Supply, Saferacer.com, Saldana Racing Products, and Sander Engineering for their support.
