While the rest of the country sits around compiling stats, pointing fingers and discusses who's racers are the best...the Posse begins the quest for the Keystone Cup tonight at Grandview.
6 races in 6 nights if mother nature cooperates. Grandview, Port Royal, Williams Grove, Lincoln, Selinsgrove & Big Diamond. Oh, and did I mention USAC is coming to PA next week? As a race fan, where else would you want to be?
I'm headed out to Bechtelsville in about 45 minutes...grateful to live in the GREAT state of Pa!
Go Rahmer!

Smitty, the sun is out and I am heading out shortly myself. Should be an entertaining night of 410 and 358 modifield racing, all for $20. Last year Pittman had a couple of wins and was the Keystone champ. I look for Fast Freddie to be in the hunt to be this year's champ.

If they water it good and the top PA porch pillars shed the crutch, Port is going to be for the ages.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Big win for #71 on the first night! I thought for sure Pittman starting on the pole meant it was over before it began.

Another great race at Grandview. This track has the best racing in the state IMO.
Looking forward to Usac next week.

Just noticed my wonderful grammar there...
The week has just begun, he usually doesn't fare well at Port, if he musters a solid finish there, he'll be looking mighty fine.

Despite painfully sitting through the Modifieds, it was well worth the 2 hour drive to Grandview.
I'm sure Walker, Hodnett, Stevie Smith & Marks will be looking to turn their luck around tonight at Port.

Got to be careful here, just wonderin' out loud...
The Keystone Cup ends without a single pass for the lead at ANY of the 4 races that excaped Mother Nature's wrath. Four winners off the front row and people complain about the W of O's, dang! Lousy car counts and a predictable winner in Fast Freddie may take some of the shine off of things until the Outlaws get back into town and you do your thing on that one track your magic happens.
Do you think the fact there was qualifying hurt this deal Smitty? Would it be better served with a draw? What's your thoughts on the matter? I know the weekly racing with the big invert allows for some awful good racing, should that be utilized to some degree, somehow? Whatcha thinking, same with the other Posse fans who can look at this without getting into the cheerleading mode, lemme know. All the best, Take It Easy....

These results are the by product of dummied down sprint car racing. Rules that tie the drivers & owners hands. Meanwhile the fans suffer, the few professionals prosper & the promotors labor on with avg crowds at higher priced admission to pay the purse.

I think this year's format stunk as far as starting the fast qualifiers up front in the heats and carried over to the starting positions in the features. I'm sure the big guns, Rahmer, Hodnett, Pittman, Dewease, etc loved it going into the Keystone Cup, but the fans and lesser funded drivers hated it. Many drivers figured they had no shot at starting up front and therefore, the overall car counts were way down for this year's version. I am sure the price of gas and the economy factured into it as well, but I really think they need to change the qualifying format for next year.

Trust me there were plenty of people screaming the same thing on the WGMB and I was one of them. The format is terrible, the lower budget teams aren't going to haul to Big Diamond when they know they have a slim chance at making a good run.
The best format out there is the WoO format.
On a side note, I heard the Speedweek is planning on running the same format, I hope the 4 races and 0 passes for the lead makes them reconsider.

Australia always had the best format for the fans in my opinion, not sure the drivers would agree. If Rohan Beasely is still around these parts he could explain it but getting it implemented would be another story, sadly.....

You will never hear me complain about the Outlaws, I love it when they come to town regardless of the outcome.
I have seen better time trial shows over the past few years and I prefer lining them up by time trials however I do not agree with starting them heads up in the heat. There has to be an invert in the heats...invert 6 and let the top 2 finishers re-draw maybe? I hope Speedweek does not follow the Keystone Cup format. Thanks to penalties & handicapping we have Pittman running a 360 instead of a 410 at the Grove tomorrow night. Handicapping & the tire rules need to go...
The Outlaws have the best format out there! Along with the double file restarts.
