OK, I made some of you putz's look. Having lived within 50 miles of the best sprint car racing on the planet for the past 8 years I have been transfered. I now live near SC and the closest sprint car racing will be twice a year in Charlotte. I didn't like the WOO at Knoxville and I am not going to like driving 3 hours to go see 22-28 cars with no supporting races.
Now to the meat of the post. Friday night I went to one of the "best" short tracks in the area. I paid $10 each for the 3 of us, one being 14 years old. (is 14 years old full price at knoxville?) We saw 4 classes of racing, here is the break down;
Young guns - 2 cars
4 Cylinder - ~ 8 cars
8 Cylinder - 10-12 cars, enought for 2 heat races.
Crate Late models - 7, still enough for 2 heat races.
Bottom line 4 heat races and 4 A mains for $10- each. No B mains and no 40 car counts. At Knoxville there are more cars towing in for the 360's from a 6-800 mile radius than there were at this track overall.
If you don't go put your butt in a seat as often as you can, you may find Knoxville closed down and you are stuck watching Honda CRX's race. Also just to make it clear, the guys I saw race on Friday work very hard and did a good job. I will go back and watch them, but I will also listen to Knoxville on Saturday nights and wish I was there.
Now back to you regularly scheduled flaming and bitching.

You're absolutely right.
Knoxville's prices are crazy in a great way.
I'll admit I'm spoiled, living within 40 miles of Knoxville (a 55 minute drive as it takes me almost as long to get out of the city of D.M. proper as it does to make the rest of the trip) and going to races there for over 50 years now.
Knoxville's general admission prices this year for a "regular" Sat. night show are $15 for adults, $8 for ages 13 through 19, and $4 for ages 6 through 12.
In addition, I've always thought the prices at the concession stands were extremely reasonable; much cheaper than any other venue in the D.M. area for sure.
On opening night, April 30, there were 29 410's, 27 360's, and 17 305's and not a fendered car to be found. (LOL)
On May 7, a night K-ville hosted the IRA, there were 43 410's and 31 360's.
You'll never catch me saying anything bad about Knoxville. The only way I could be any luckier is if I lived on the fairgrounds!

The Knoxville ticket prices are especially great when you consider the purse. There are many, many opportunities to find tickets to a weekly show for half-price. I can't believe how many people complain about ticket prices at Knoxville.
Just curious.... What are the prices at Williams Grove and come of the other PA tracks? There seems to be a bit more money invested in the PA weekly cars so does that translate to higher admission?

Williams Grove is also a bargain compared to most other tracks in Eastern Pa/NJ. Here are some of the prices for a general admission ticket: Regular show $12, with a second division, ( 358 sprint cars or Late models) $14, with URC as a second division $16, an All Star race $18 or $20 and for the World of Outlaws $28.Another good thing that they do is charge student prices up to AGE 20. Most other tracks in Pa charge full adult prices for students, therefore it is not uncommon to see the place packed with teenagers at Williams Grove. Last year the two tracks running Dirt Modifields in NJ, Bridgeport and New Egypt, charged $20 for a regular show and $25 if URC sprint cars or ARDC midgets were added to the program with no student prices.(ouch) The two other Central Pa tracks that run 410's on a regular basis Lincoln and Port Royal usually charge $14 on a weekly basis for a three division show.

I went to Quincy last year spent 20 bucks to see 9 sprint cars, they said it was the All-Stars. By the time the races were over 5 of the 9 had left. You can't beat Knoxville.

Great post. We are very lucky to have the show and car count we get to see at Knoxville. They have done a great job with the kids ticket prices also. I think kids 5-12 are $3 and teens tickets are a good discount also but can't remember the cost. Fair concesion and beer prices also. 50+ sprints every regular show, you can't beat it.

I don't know where you want to watch races or the quality, but I like the Knoxville races and from the prices I have paid (dirt track) at Texas raceway, Weathland, MO / Nevada, MO / Joplin, MO / Hibbing, MN / DesMoines, IA, Oskalossa, Ia - I will keep paying and going on Saturday nights. Also, for serious race fans they had a special internet special this last winter and I bought a ticket that gets punched each week, if I take in all races my price per night I think is less than $10 - and I get to watch 305, 360, and 410 Sprints. I'm happy Dennis Johnson

Tom , I have no idea how you can compare Knoxville to whatever track you went to. I think you need to compare your prices to some nascar home series or whatever they call themselves these days.
Knoxville hasn't really changed the age structure for ticket prices for decades.
After attending 99 race tracks across the country, I can tell you that knoxville has the best entertainment value than most tracks.

Sorry KKPromotions,
That was my point. Every now and then people bash Knoxville. Last weekend it was for canceling early and letting the guys with the big hauls decide to take the week off or go race somewhere dry. I have been there and done that. Nothing sucks more that working in the shop all week, getting to the track and loading the car back up after a heat race. If the places washs out, but you were on the track. All you did was spend a bunch of money to get the car coated. You still have your weekly maint. to do to the car for no pay back.. While Knoxville is not perfect, it is heaven. Those that take it for granted need a reality check every now and then.
