the newton motorsports team had quite a nite at ocean speedway. while leading his heat jason got over the curb that developed on the high side of the track and fell to second where he ended up finishing. jason was upset with himself but it was a good effort on a track that was slick down low and in the middle with a six inch curb next to a gooey top. even the most expierienced racers had trouble bouncing off the curb. jason started 12th in the main and went back and forth a bit while searching for the best place to run the #31 wright one/valvoline shark powered maxim with help from KPR (thanks kenny!). he started moving forward due in part to the mistakes of other drivers having trouble with the tricky surface. jasons frustration surfaced on a restart as he threw caution to the wind while driving 'er in and undershooting the cushin. this resulted in jason spinning and crew chief gary fugate calling jason in on the yellow for a chassis adjustment. that adjustment and jason perfectly placing the car on the curb gained jason 4 spots in the last 2 laps with the last spot gained in a beautifully executed last turn slide. even though he finished where he started (12th) it was a good nite for the team. we had the motor running great after a little adjusting in the off weeks. gary had the car very close to start with and the adjustment on the yellow made it possile for jason to bring home a good finish after his spin. i think gary was dissapointed for not having the car spot on from the beginning, but it was a tough track to set up for and he did a great job of not over adjusting and possibly dialing jason totally out from the beginning. we are all learning and moving forword. our goal is to keep improving our qualifing and to start closer to the front to shoot for a top 5 finish. also we are hoping to get in a full 30 lap main as jason seems to come on strong towards the end of the race. thanks to all the teams and fans who support the wright one 360 series. and a special thanks to garret ishi and his team for choosing to race ocean and skip the bradway race in chico on sat. his dad told me they had no problem supporting the series. what do you guys out there think of our first year team?

p.s. to ocean speed way. could you put up on your web site just what the qualifing and eligability requierments for the johnny key race will be and how drivers will qualify ect. i still have been asked questions about that whole deal.
