I know you can find 410 and 360 motors for lease.

My question is there anyone out there that would have a 305 for lease.

I was thinking about a driver doing well in the points and ends up losing a motor would a possible backup plan leasing one? Most 305 teams do not have 2 motors.

Try Bulldog racing engines in Mo.-I have heard they leased 305 engines.

I think a few of the Ohio 305 builders usually have a "house" motor for rent in case something should happen to their primary in a short term need. But their rules and the midwest rules are different.

I do not think it would make difference other then the motor plate. It is the matter of saving points.

In some ways I would like to try Ford

I have had a 305 Ford for the last couple of years. We typically run it at Riverside Speedway (the Ditch) in West Memphis, AR in a wingless car. While I've always prided myself on being a Chevy guy, I have to admit there are some SIGNIFICANT advantages to the Ford. (atleast in the 305 class)The DOWNSIDE to the 302 Ford is the main webbing in the stock blocks (aftermarket blocks not allowed) is weak. We're on our 3rd block. And granted, the Fords are a little more expensive to build initially, because of the injectors and the offset drive necessary for the mag, but they tend to run harder on the big end. We're just finishing up a refreshen on ours (the only Ford running down here in the class) for the 2011 season.

If your track/sanctioning body allows it, I'd definitely suggest trying a Ford. Oh, and you'll have to fab your own FRONT motor plate. Most chassis companies will still build the rear motor plate for you though.

Good luck.

Thanks for the extra efforts. The sport could use several guys like you.

Ford builds some awesome products. I have owned nothing but Fords for the last 24 years and our hauler is a Ford. Although we would love to race Fords, it is difficult when there are only a couple of them running. If you break something simple with a Chevy you can run to the local parts store and get most of the simple parts over the counter to finish the night. Plus most everyone else racing runs the SBC, so parts are abundant. Wish this was not so, but you really need to go the extra mile to race a Ford. I commend all that do so. To be competitive with one is quite the accomplishment as there really is not allot of support for it in Sprint Car Racing. Good for you godaddyracing, keep it up!

i have never posted on here before but the ford engine talk on this topic cauhgt my eye..i drive a 305 and 360 car for a local machine shop here in southeast iowa,we race at 34 raceway weekly with the 305 car and we run a ford 302 in this car.we ran a ford in 2009 and won sum races and the track points that year.but didnt run it last year, however we have it back in the car this year and won with it our first and only race so far this year..i like several things about the ford,i guess the main thing i like about it is the fact that no one else around here runs one..lol sum one on here said u had to buy a new motor plate and injection to run one, well the machine shop i race took our chevy motorplate and made it fit both kinds of motors and also we run a rons fuel injection in this motor and we also run it on our chevy motor,so the only thing we really had to buy besides building the motor is headers and a magneto,,but the track we run at makes us bolt 50lbs. of lead on the car if we run a ford but he dam motor is only 30lbs. lighter than our chevy.plus we have a wait rule and we was never under wait without the lead..its really a stupid rule but we do it so we can run the ford..lol ilovw the fact that all the fans wanna come over and look at it after the races,it really gives the brand loyal fans sumthing to root for in the stands...sorry didnt meen to babble on in my first post..

Thanks for the comments guys. Looking forward to getting back out there in the next couple of weeks.

Good luck with your 305 Ford Jason!

FYI-my comment concerning the injectors was in reference to Hilborn/Kinsler type. If you're running the Ron's, that makes it real easy! And, you're on the right track with the mod to the rear motor plate...we did exactly the same thing.

i figured thats what u meant about the injection, i just wanted to let sum other people that may have not known about the rons injection, and that it can work on both motors and could be a cheaper route for racers wanting to try a ford engine in this class

Yep, I'll tell you what, Jayson flies with that Ford. We are going to need a minor miracle to catch that guy! But it is really cool to see his Ford run. We are impressed, and perhaps when the times are a bit different we will try as well. I sure would love to run one. Jim Clark car owner for Destini Clark #79

Are you talking about the flying toilet bowl, or does Rons make another version of this injection???? I had a Kinsler 4 barrel injection but decided not to run it. I am told that it is very similair to the rons, but I did not pursue it.

We will be there if we can figure out why the car acts like the throttle is stuck open. I am beginning to think that we are sucking air around the intake. We were getting ready to race for the opening night when we discovered this problem and it has set us back a bit. If we can get it figured out by Saturday we will be there. Sure hope to get to race with you folks this weekend. If not we may come out for some moral support. LOL

it is a 4 barrel injection type..rons call it the termenator now..when olsons bought this in like 1992 or so it was called the four shooter,,,if you have one thats this type make sure and measure the butterfly holes bcause r rules say they can be no larger 1 and 7/8. you should try and run it,i love the way this injection works its so simple and i prefer it over our other injections we have..but it does take a little getting used to bcause the throttle response is alot faster than than the others..a little bit on the gas pedal goes along ways...stop at our pit sum night im sure brad and kyle will show it to you so you can compare it to yours. plus you buy this injection brand new with fuel pump for around $2000.00...

Actually I sold mine. I shopped around for manifolds and the like for our Kinsler and it seemed to me that I could buy a good Hilborn injection for what I had to spend on nozzles, manifold, air cleaner, etc. etc. etc..... I wish that I hadn't needed to sell it because I really wanted to try it, but with the economy the way that it is I was better off using the money elsewhere. I do know that the drag racer that bought it is really happy with it. Maybe down the road we will try again...... Jim...... I may stop down however, one can never learn to much. Especially with a Sprint car!
