Shake Up Jacob – Season Opener

NEWTON (April 14, 2011) – Welcome to the 2011racing season with the Ossenfort Racing team! For the team's season opener last weekend, they made their way to the I-80 Speedway at Raceway Park in Greenwood, Nebraska, for the I-80 Cup, a two day event featuring the ASCS Midwest Region Sprint Car Series.

On Friday night the Rapids City, South Dakota driver, "Shake Up" Jacob Ossenfort, made his way on to the track for the first time this season. "It felt great to get back in the car! It had been about nine months since I had been in the car last, so I had a few butterflies," said Jacob. Hot laps would prove to be the breath of fresh air that Jacob needed.

Jacob and his Knology #99J ran a solid seventh in his heat. "It wasn't one of my best races but I had to remember that it was just our first night, so I needed to keep my head up." Although the #99J didn't transfer straight into the night's A-Main, he did find his way there, after a great fourth place finish in the B-Main.

"Shake Up" Jacob and his Knology #99J started the A-Main near the rear of the field and battled their way to a well-deserved thirteenth for the evening. "It was a great race. It was the first feature of the season and we passed a lot of cars. I had a blast"

Saturday night would teach Jacob and the rest of the Ossenfort Racing team, a little more about "racers" luck. During his heat race Jacob had to avoid a fellow competitor who looked like they were having some trouble, which in turn sent the #99J into the inside guard rail, causing damage to his fuel tank.

Jacob's ninth place finish in his heat had him starting thirteenth in the B-Main. "The Knology #99J couldn't have felt better," Jacob said; and he couldn't have shown it better either. Jacob drove his #99J to a fourth place finish, grabbing a transfer spot to the night's main event.

Unfortunately, the A-Main wouldn't go as smoothly as his B-Main had gone. "I kind of over thought the set up. I thought that I could just go out there with my B-Main set up, because it felt so good. We didn't tighten up the car enough and we were loose the entire race," Jacob had to say. He handled his #99J to a twentieth place finish to end the night.

"All in all it was a great weekend. I had a lot of fun and I'm still pretty happy about a successful Friday night," Jacob said.

Be sure you catch Jacob and his Knology #99J 410 at Huset's Speedway, near Brandon, South Dakota, on May 8.
