Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series Notes & Pertinent Info

Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway - Saturday April 16

What:

After opening the season last weekend the Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series will return to action this Saturday night for the running of the annual Chris & Brian Faria Memorial. This year will mark the fifth season in a row that the event, which began as the Chris Faria Memorial, pays tribute to both brothers

When:

On Saturday April 16 the front grandstand gate will be open at 5pm. Hot laps are scheduled for 6pm, with qualifying at 6:30 and racing anticipated to start around 7.

Where:

The Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway is located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds on the corner of Bardsley and K Streets in Tulare, California. From the junction of SR 99 and SR 137, go west on SR 137. At South K go south one-half mile to the Fairgrounds.

Tickets:

Advance tickets are on sale and be acquired by contacting the track ticket office at (559) 688-0909. Reserved grandstand seats cost $20 with general admission bleacher tickets $17. Pit pass prices will be $37 for members and $45 for non members.

About the track:

Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway is one-third mile clay oval with the all-time track record being 12.651, which was set by Tim Kaeding on March 5, 2010.

Last April at the Thunderbowl:

Elk Grove’s Kyle Larson captured the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial last season after an exciting duel with Campbell’s Brent and Bud Kaeding. It marked the youngsters first ever victory at the track. Bud Kaeding ended the feature in second, with Easton’s Tommy Tarlton in third, Brent Kaeding in fourth and Chico’s Jonathan Allard rounding out the top-five.

1. Jonathan Allard; 2. Evan Suggs; 3. Jason Statler; 4. Tim Kaeding; 5. Brad Furr; 6. Andy Gregg; 7. Willie Croft; 8. Brent Kaeding; 9. Kenny Allen; 10. Trey Starks.
