Looking at Indiana Open Wheel. com, and I must say, lots of fans and racers upset with the goings on at Eldora. Understood that we cannott control the weather, but do look at the "goings on" there last night.
I'm a "Tony" fan, and I find it "disgusting". Imagine the individaul that has previous issues with that facility.
Kevin, you called it, is all I can say.

Eldora just got canned for tonight. Eldora + USAC = more screwed up than a chicken noodle soup sammich.
Hope Attica can get their race in tonight. Should be a near outlaw caliber field.

Funny thing is some of the posters werent even there !!
It was a disappointment to be sure, but I was way more disappointed last week in North Vernon, and I cant really explain why.
Off to Putnamville now.Hopefully the weekend will get better!

I see that Tony Stewart even posted an apology on the IOW forum.
I was there last year and it was track prep, wasn't there last night...off to Attica tonight!

Yeah and you won't see my chrome dome at Eldora anytime soon AQ. I'll save my cash for Helfrich's place, Ind. Midget Week and maybe a return to Belle-Clair later this year.

Well I've stuck to my guns & haven't been to the big e in over a year now, Don't plan on going anytime soon either. Hate not going for the racers but I've had enough of the grader & other bullcrap. Heading out to Attica in about an hour.

Here's his post... To me it sounds like he was putting the blame on USAC for the "variables" they "dictated", and gave his staff a pass. Just what was he apologising for, USAC?

Re: Advice for eldora speedway
trust me i watched on my computer til the bitter end last night, but no one can control the weather. sorry we let you down. i have the upmost confidence in my staff and watched them do everything they could to get it in last night. there are many more variables in what happened last night that usac dictated an was out of eldoras control. i love usac but the show in april seems to make more people unhappy than happy and the weather sucks in april. maybe we should stop running this event. we lose money on it every year. we do it for the fans but seems like thats not enough anymore. sorry |

I agree, the USAC spring race is always a fiascoe. I would try to push it back to may or june like they did with the outlaws race. I am not going to sit here and complain and wine about it because I am smart enough not to go to any races until after May. Eldora should just run stocks and mods in April and have the track in shape by may for the bigger shows. I can't wait for the outlaws to come to town in a month.

They had the same problems with the world of outlaws racing in april. It did not work that why they moved them to may. Why in the name of samuel hell don`t they do the same with usac? People around this area know that it is still cold and rainy this early in april.

Why is it that they have so much trouble at Eldora in April ? all the other tracks seem not to have problems , maybe Tony Stewart needs to find someone else to do his track prep work ?? USAC PUTS ON A GOOD SHOW ,BETTER THEN WoO
shouldn't have to move your dates around that much to get your shows in ,even if it is April

Hasn't USAC been a staple at Eldora in April for years? Then again maybe my memory is fading...

Here's the thread. http://www.indianaopenwheel.com/showthread.php?t=45331
I don't know, but it seems to me that Tony is trying to pass the buck onto USAC.

No, USAC is not to blame. USAC wanted to pull the plug at 9 am, and although there was certainly enough time to get the track in order, turns out it would have been the right call. They didn't get equipment on the track until mid afternoon and heat races weren't run until after 10:00. Only the bottom third, if that, was usable. They wasted everyones time by running about 8 push trucks around the track for over an hour, like that was going to make a difference. It is a cluster everytime. They needed to either use the grader and scrape it off or get a sheepsfoot on it. If I were USAC I wouldn't go back, the track conditions are always horrible. I was actually looking forward to going because in the past it seemed like if it rained the day before the track would actually be good, but that wasn't the case. The place needs a new track prep crew, there have been lots of improvements at Eldora, but track prep hasn't been good in the last decade, it wasn't good for a lot of the last few years of Earl so you can't put it on Tony, but I would say he needs to wash his hands of the staff and get a fresh start, sometimes change is good. Go to Lawrenceburg or Kokomo, those guys have racy tracks almost every week. It rained all day Saturday in Lawrenceburg, standing water everywhere in the area, but still the racetrack was perfect and they still raced.

Yeah and I'm sure the dust out last year was USAC's fault too. He said, she said stuff gets old quick.

I can respect Tony for sticking up for his crew, after all it's "his" crew; but as most of us know Tony has had a love-hate relationship with USAC for years now, and to redirect the blame to someone or something else for his mistakes is a pattern for Tony.

You are correct...sorta. The sprint car season used to start in Ohio with a local Attica show on the last Friday in March, followed the next night by USAC at Eldora. Attica still schedules that date every year, but I think it's been a few years since USAC ran on the next night.
