I know this sounds ridiculous and I always thought dirt was for racing and asphalt was for getting their. But when has anyone seen a Main event on a real dirt track. By the time the main gets ready to roll out how far away is it from an asphalt track. Actually most tracks I've been to this happens after hot laps and for sure before the heats are even over. With asphalt you eliminate the dust and maybe you can enjoy the races. I have wimped out in my older years I know.

I remember a WoO show at 81 speedway late (October) in the season about 5 years ago or so. From what I heard they acquired some heavy equipment from one of the dealers and ripped or roto tilled the dirt. They added water when they put it back together. You know the track was a real dirt track had a cushion and everything. If you were there you would have not believed you were at 81 Speedway. It was still tacky at A main time. I think it completely fooled everyone. They might have went just a bit overboard even. I left that night impressed with the track prep. It was such a heavy track the start was delayed an hour or so if I remember and it wasn't because of rain that day or anything like that.
That night I gave Dale Reed a Racing From The Past cap with him in the #6 on it. He thougth it was the neatest thing he had ever gotten from a fan. He told me they had a computer but was not hooked up to the internet.

By the way I have been to two asphalt tracks in my life. In the 70's several times to I-70. Also a couple of times to Lanier National Speedway near Brazelton, Ga. Now that I think back about it, there was some pretty good if not great racing. Lanier was in the 80's.

I have already gotten e-mail, LOL. Well my answers to the wind is transplant some pine trees along the south and north property line. This will act as a wind break. Wind breaks are incredible if planted right. The north property is not as important as the south property line. As the south wind is the problem during racing season.
