Anybody remember a driver Mike Jimmerson? Drove a super modified in Tulsa in the early 1970's. Orange #70 as I recall.

He drove at Tulsa about 70-72 .There are a couple pictures of him in the "High Plains Thunder " book. In 1972 he got the Boomershine ride before George Armstrong in the 77 car. he did not drive it long before he had a bad wreck, I don't know if he drove or not after this wreck. I don't think he was hurt very bad. He was a very thin man and helmet came off. George did not drive the 77 very long, he picked up the number 8 car the next year and Jay Woodside drove the new Jelly built 77 in 1974

YES!!! It was a very firey accident. Happened that I was hit in the head that same night sitting in the turn one grandstand and was taken to the hospital for a couple of stitches in my forehead. Mike Jimmerson was in the hospital recovering from that wreck and spent a good deal of his recouperating time talking with this young man and soothing his ruffled nerves after being knocked out cold by a dirt clod in turn one.... So where is this High Plains Thunder book?

"So where is this High Plains Thunder book?"

I would suggest this site http://highbanks-museum.org/store.htm There is a printable order form at the top of the page. Or you can phone your order in and they accept credit cards. This is a small museum and I now they will appreciate your order. My 2nd choice would have been National Sprint Car Hall of Fame but it appears they don't carrying it. It may be out of print and only existing supplies are all that is left???

I only advertise for the non profit organizations any more. I just want to stay away from the for profit. I don't want to get involve in collecting money unless it is a not for profit organization when it comes to racing. I will send viewers to others sites that maybe collecting money.

Here is a very small sample of the book to wet your salivia glands. You won't be disappointed if you order the book. There is a whole section on NCRA, Tulsa, OKC, Dodge City and Wichita supermodifieds and the rest of the high plains http://www.racingfromthepast.com/index94.html

FYI The Highbanks museum still lists a diecast of Andy Hillenburg's WoO LuxAir #2. But they don't give a price

Warren.. I did call these folks and ordered the book. I did mention that it was the RFTP website that guided me there. He called me shortly thereafter and said he didn't have the book on the shelf but would find me a copy. Anxiously awaiting that one!

Received my copy of the book yesterday. WOW! Man that was worth the wait. Saw a nod to Warren in the book...... So I was wondering about the fellow that is credited on many of the Tulsa photos, Mike Pogue. Is he a visitor here? Perhaps does he offer any of these old prints for sale or anything?

Mike is a lurker here. I'm not sure he has ever posted?? But he definitely is out there watching. I dont' think he actually sells photos?? But he probably has the largest selection of photos west of the Mississippi, LOL. He has the collection of several of the photog's from the Oklahoma/Kansas area. The Tulsa photog's you would probably remember. He has a booth at the Chili Bowl every year with all his photo books on site. He lives up in Claremore. If you go back through the thread he is pictured with his super he raced for a couple of season. I think we used it as a contest to guess who he was in the forum.
