RAMOS SETS AMBITIOUS USAC PAVEMENT SPRINT CAR PLANS FOR 2011

CLOVIS, CALIFORNIA (March 31, 2011) – 17 year-old Luis Ramos III has announced his 2011 schedule driving the #21 USAC Sprint Car for Kaplan-Gennuso Racing throughout the United States. Ramos, who finished second in the 2010 USAC Western Sprint Car Series, will race in the 15 race series for the championship while also racing all six USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car races at Lucas Oil Speedway in Indianapolis.

Ramos has been racing since he was five years old, ascending the ladder from Quarter Midgets to 600 Micro Sprints and now into the pavement Sprint Cars. Ramos adapted to the 800 horsepower cars quickly as he won Rookie of the Year honors in an abbreviated season in 2009.

His 2010 season was where he really shined. After claiming his first Sprint Car win at Roseville in May, Ramos battled six-time series champion Tony Hunt down to the final race of the season at Irwindale.Hunt finished the race second to win the title while Ramos finished the race sixth.

The narrow championship defeat has the Clovis High School honor student motivated to go after the championship again in 2011. The series will travel throughout California, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah with 15 races scheduled.

In addition to running the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car races in Indy, Ramos will also race in the prestigious “Little 500” at Anderson Speedway on May 28. 33 Sprint Cars compete for 500 laps around the quarter-mile paved venue.

Saturday’s “Fred Gerhardt Classic” at Madera will open the season for Ramos and the USAC Western Sprint Car Series. The Kaplan-Gennuso team will be looking for their second championship after Ryan Kaplan won the title for them in 2007.

As the season gets in to the home stretch, Ramos will begin attending classes at Fresno Pacific University to major in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance.

Luis Ramos’ #21 car is a Beast chassis powered by Losoworth Racing Engines. He is sponsored by Red Line Oil and MetTec. Luis Ramos III is online at www.ramosracing.com
