reality TV that is...
Reality Television Turns
to the O’Reilly All Stars for Speed and Excitement
CAMARGO, IL (5-10-07)Its not the sort of television coverage one would come to expect when
you think about dirt track racing and winged 410 sprint cars, but GRB Entertainment
of Sherman Oaks, CA was able to see through the dust when looking for a diamond
in the rough.Reality television has
blossomed over the last several years and GRB has been at the forefront of much
of that programming.The O’Reilly All
Star Circuit of Champions is currently in negotiations with them in pitching a
show to television executives based on the behind the scenes drama and
excitement of short track sprint car racing at the grass roots level.
“We came up with this idea a few years ago,” said Executive Vice President of
Creative Affairs Michael Branton, “but the deal just never really
materialized.We’re willing to give this
another chance as long as we can find some interesting drivers within the All
Star organization to base a show on.” At
this point it is unclear whether the show would be solidly based around one
team, or whether it would follow the story line of several teams as they
progress through the season.“I guess it
just depends how many interesting people we find to be a part of this,” said
Branton.
GRB
Entertainment is an established global trendsetter of unscripted alternative
programming, with a proven track record of highly-rated programming for
networks worldwide.Currently, GRB is in
production on “Intervention”, a Prism Award-winning documentary series of 39
one-hour episodes for A&E Network.
Other
recent productions include “True Caribbean Pirates” for the History Channel, a
26-episode docu-soap, “Tuckerville”, on country music legend Tanya Tucker, for
TLC, and a fourth exciting season of 18 episodes of “Untold Stories of the ER”
for TLC.
Over
the past few years, GRB’s client list has included NBC (Next Action Star), USA
(Cannonball Run: Race Across America), Paramount Television (Doctors),
Nickelodeon (Smash), AMC (Cinema Secrets), Animal Planet (Extreme Contact), TNT
(Medal of Honor), Spelling Entertainment (TAC-1: Real Heroes), Columbia TriStar
(AXN: Action TV), Germany's Sat 1 (Echt Wahr, a 200-episode TV tabloid), FOX (Princess
of Malibu), A&E (Growing Up Gotti), TLC (Second Chance), VH-1 (Simply
Irresistible), and more.
To
be considered for this reality based programming, you must send in an audition
tape explaining why you think you and your race team would make an interesting
story that people would want to watch. The video can be sent on VHS or DVD and should be less than 5 minutes in
length.It should not include racing
footage, only you and your crew, owner, girlfriend, wife, dog, etc. telling why
you should be considered and why you feel you believe people would want to tune
in each week to watch.Drivers must be
All Star members to be eligible and plan to run at least 15–20 races on the
2007 schedule.
“I
think this is a great opportunity to bring the grass roots level of exciting
winged 410 sprint car racing to a new audience who may have never seen a race,”
said All Star president Guy Webb.“We
don’t know if this show will materialize being that it is only in the planning
stages, but I am confident that Michael and GRB Entertainment know their
industry and if there is a market for this sort of reality entertainment, then
we’d like to be a part of that.”
