Have the 2 day extra money shows lost ALL their appeal, or is it just me? They used to pay 25%-75% and be for double the purses they are now. What are we racing for on the first night? I love going racing as much as the next guy, but I cant see paying to get the family in, crew, fuel, and myself or an entry fee for 2 nights of racing and only get paid for 1. We run the risk of doing damage every time the car is unloaded, I get that, I just don't like the gamble of breaking or crashing out on night 1 to not have an envelope with my name on it at the end of the event.

There was a discussion on here about this a few months ago. It bascially said that the two day shows were a thing of the past just for the reasons you mentioned.

in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he
stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Let me esplain----- I practically invented the multi-day big paying shows back in the mid 80's for the little classes(not sprint cars or latemodels). When we offered up 5 grand for street stocks and I mean real street stocks not late model sportsmen cars called street stock. Then later we offered 10 grand and 20 grand and then 50 grand to win a modified show. I was copied by many other promoters.
I had several promoters call me and ask me if I had lost my mind and how did I think I was going to come out on the deal.
I said this:
You see it's all about the math. You could have a 2 day show that pays each night but only slightly more than a weekly show but you still need an entry fee to offset the bigger purse but you really would not have a SPECIAL SHOW. If you want a truly big special show that pays BIG BUCKS then you need 2 or 3 days of revenue to pay the purse. You could actually have a 5 grand to win one day show if you charged $200 entry fee and $50 pit passes and $25 to spectate but I think we all know how that would go over. So, you see the 2 or 3 day show with all the money being in the the Big A main on the last day comes from the revenue produced from the preliminary nights of qualifing. Or you could just have a money tree and harvest it just before the big race to pay the racers. LOL No free rides that I know of.
