I was looking at his 500 Wins poster and saw that in 1989, The King had only 1 victory. The year before he had 26 wins. What happened to Kinser that season? Was it just an off year or was there something else going on? Either way, Kinser has a resume that will never be matched. Long live The King!

That was the year of the USA series which split the WoO sort of like the NST of 3 or 4 years ago.

I believe if you check that's the same year that Bobby Davis, Jr. won the WoO championship.

That was also the year that Wolfgang won every damn thing in sight. He was in Danny Peace's 8D. There stats for that year were just stupid. Long live the Wolf!!

Wolfgang and Davis were the guys to beat in 89. Sammy and Steve ran USA.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

The Wolf didn't follow either series, raced where and when he wanted...
As I recall he was the leading feature and $$$ winner in both series that year...

That was the only reason the Luna Ford won the points. Mark, Steve, Sammy and Blaney were with the USA tour.

And what sort of lame explanation do you have for writing off Dave Blaney's WoO Championship in the same car in 1995?

Steve started out the year with NASCAR and didnt run the full tour.....he did win the 95 nationals with his own team----- OBTW brand new team as in without Karl. Wasnt that the last time a FORD made any noise in a sprint car.........lots of smoke but not much noise----as in POOOOOOF there goes another one.

Did you not still have Mark and Sammy to fall back on in '95?

Only Karl Kinser (the best the sport has ever seen) on an absolute mission could run with Luna in 1996. The Luna Ford was head and shoulders above all others except Karl's during its final year.

Well, Jeff must still believe in the Fords' ability since he's gone back out on the road chasing the ASCS national title with the Roush/Yates 360.
And, not that you'll care, but we had a little race down here in West Memphis, at a little bull ring afectionately known as "The Ditch" (Riverside) honoring a fella you may have heard of....Hooker Hood.
The non wing 305 cars ran that night, and a FORD won the race. Oh yeah, it was driven by a young hot shoe named Brad Bowden, and is owned by me.
I know it's not ASCS or WoO, but it was the only Ford in a sea of Chevy motors, and he whipped all their asses.

The WoO/USA split of 1989 left the WoO Championship open
The Casey Luna 10 always ran great whether it had a Ford or Chevy, although it primarily ran the Ford.
Sammy as usual did not run the whole year in 1995, as he was running the Truck Series with Channelock.
Same with Steve, as he was running "some" Nascar races for Kenny Bernstein and Quaker state.
1996 was a great year, Karl and Mark won 27 races and kicked all their butts, Steve and Sammy had 11 and 10 wins respectively. Oh and the Ford had 8 wins, thats if they had a Foed in it every night they won.

Correct me if Im wrong but Jeff run his Ford wednesday night and had this (DNS) by his name in the HEAT race. Now DNS means did not start right? Now either they couldnt get the damn thing to start or they were busy changing motors after the hot laps.

Jeff started his heat but stopped in turn 3 and was pushed to the pits. He started the B in a backup car that had the number 12 on the tank and the top wing from his 28 car, he transfered to the A but stopped again in the feature. He was running good when the car ran. Also he did not have the Roush Ford in the car, he ran a Chevy powerplant.

That is correct. I didn't know until earlier today that they didn't get the Ford into the car in time to leave for Cali. Both the motors he has with him are Chevies, I believe from Eckley.
