SEASON OPENER TO HONOR PROMOTER JOHN
PADJEN
SACRAMENTO,
CALIFORNIA (February 4, 2011) – It was announced on Thursday that the new USAC Western
Classic Racing Series will name its inaugural race on March 11 at Silver Dollar
Speedway the “John Padjen Classic”.Both
USAC Sprint Cars and USAC Midgets will be in action on the Friday night portion
of the “Mini Gold Cup” weekend at the Chico speedplant.
The USAC
Western Classic Racing Series is a California-based traditional sprint car
series that will honor those that had impact on the history of Sprint Car
racing on the West Coast.The series
also is being run in order to honor the history of the Northern Auto Racing
Club (NARC).
Padjen, a
former promoter of the Silver Dollar Speedway, won Auto Racing Promoter of the
Year in 2007 and retired in 2009.
“I would
like to thank Tommy Hunt and USAC for the honor of naming this first race
after me,” said John Padjen. “It means a lot to me, my family and all the
people that have worked for us throughout the years.”
The USAC
Western Classic Racing Series will campaign both 410 and 360 cubic inch Sprint
Cars with the series providing equivalency packages for the 410 cars at no
charge.All cars must weigh 1400 lbs.

eight dirt and eight asphalt races throughout California.Champions will be named for dirt, asphalt, and overall points earned.
The “John
Padjen Classic” is the first of three appearances at Silver Dollar Speedway for
the USAC Western Classic Racing Series.The Sprint Cars will return on both Friday, August 5 and Thursday
September 8.In September, the Midgets
will again be on the card and the racing activities will take place during the
famed “Gold Cup” week.
Adult
general admission for the “John Padjen Classic” is $20 with Juniors and Seniors
$15 and Children $6.The Front gates
will open at 5 p.m. with racing to begin at 6:30 p.m.

include a commemorative West Capitol Raceway general admission ticket from 31
years ago while supplies last.This rare
souvenir is only available in limited quantities so fans are encouraged to
order tickets now.
