How many of you would go and spend the $35 to $40 a ticket to go watch a WoO race knowing that only 10 to 15 teams make the trip to that race?
For me,to much money for so little. Just wouldn't be worth it.
What do you think?

No way. I would rather find some local races, pay 12-15, and go 3 times. It can be exciting to see the great equipment and the great stars, but there is often closer competition at an affordable price that I personally enjoy more.

I wouldn't go. Some the best racing I watched last year came from the ASCS and paid $15.

To me it depends on where your at and how many locals run. Like here in Pa it's worth it to me because you have over 20 Local drivers enter the event.

Some folks go to McD's for a burger, some go to Outback. So they choose to pay $3 for the burger instead of $7 at Outback.
It's all a matter of personal choice - if you want to see the WoO, you'll make the decision to spend the $$$. No one is dumber or smarter if they choose to see the WoO - just different!

In Northern California we only see 10 to 15 Woo drivers then the rest are from Ca,NV,WA,OR.Long haul.Espically for the middle of the road teams who are on a budget and have wrecked a few chasis already.
On a positive note we will get to see the ASCS National Series for the first time.

I agree with all the comments. Personal preference and gosh how lucky for those who live in Central PA. I would give my left foot to have local racing like that and then the chance to see all the teams compete when the WoO rolls into town.
I've always enjoyed the WoO, but the haul gets longer all the time as they have all but disappeared from the North Texas area again. Even Lone Star was a 5-6 hour drive and is now off the schedule. I have to make the trip up to Salina, OK for their inaugural event this spring.

When the WoO thinks of the fan first then I might go back at even $35 a head. The way they have it now they get 16-18 410`s and maybe a half a dozen 360`s.....get to watch the track get prepaired halfway through the show (people might get bored and go buy a hotdog). Then they (WoO) start letting the cars run mini sprint tanks that hold 5 gallons of fuel so they can save 28 grams of weight and run a great big 25 lap feature that has to get red flagged so they can filler up. At least run a 40 lap feature for $10,000 to win and put on a show FOR THE FANS. When they (WoO) see what the ASCS is doing to make it appealing to the fan and the fan gets theirs money`s worth by having 2 B-features----if they have 30 cars in the pits you see 4 heat races. I have seen where the WoO will have 50 cars in the pits and still run 4 heats. Next to USAC I think the WoO is the biggest bunch of crooks in auto racing and that IMO is not good for our sport therefore I will not support it.

kmart, what year are you living in? The WoO have mandated 33 gallon tanks for their traveling guys for '11, has ASCS done that? How many full time ASCS teams were there last year? Remember the WoO ran 70 plus shows and how many did the ASCS National tour run? Most of you sound like you just want to bi*ch more than look forward to any sprintcar event in your area. I like them all and hope both series get as many dates as possible in my area so I can see what I love; SPRINT CARS!

Thats just how much I have fallen away from the WoO (33 gallon tanks). The WoO was 80 miles from where I live in Nebraska last year and it was not a option for me to go to that event. It was same old same old as 22 cars showed up and of course they had to rework the track. If you like to spend $35 to watch a rubber down follow the leader race ENJOY. When I know there will be 25-30 cars in the pits and use a tire that will allow the cars race with each other or put on a show for the fans then maybe I will consider it. Last year at the World finals the late models went out and put on a heck of a show on the same track the follow the leader same old same old WoO run on. The only reason I watched that show was because the late models would be a great show. That used to not be that way with me.

Would I pay the money to see the WOO? YES, I would. The WOO still has the best drivers, the best equipment, they are still the gold standard for sprint cars.
The ASCS shows are good, but they do not compare with a WOO show. I think people like ASCS racing for different reasons other than being the best show. In many places 410 racing is dead, but 360 (ASCS rules) is doing well. They can go to the track and know that the local hot shoe has a chance to win the race. They know that there is a chance for many more local cars that can be competitive. They know that they might get some pretty good regional cars also.
There are two main issues with the ASCS National tour. 1) It is not a national tour. It still has a very limited foot print with a limited amount of shows. One event in April. Two events in May. Two events in Sept. One event in Oct. 2) The national series does not have any more "professional travelers" than the WOO has.
I will go to both WOO and ASCS shows this year. I will enjoy myself because I am watching sprint car racing. I will just have different expectations when I go.

Jon, good post. kmart, you say the same old 22 cars but you will go when you know there is 25-30 cars? So 3 more cars and you will go? 3 cars? Also, the WoO have went to the Goodyear tire that has made the racing more exciting, it may be because they are not good tires or because out of no where they may blow up, either way the WoO racing was good this year. The tracks being terrible is not the WoO fault, they don't control it although they should. SLS promoted shows are notorious for having track work done a couple times a night. I think that guy just loves to be a part of the event by running around on a tractor. You would rather watch Late Models? You may want to go post on 4M message board with the Door Slammer folks.

I would love to see the Woo guys but since they have over priced them self's from the track where they were born (devils bowl) much less the ticket price for fans. I would rather go to a ASCS race were 25 of the 50 cars that show up have a chance to win .Show is cool but GO is better.

The best cars, the best drivers, the best series, the best crew chiefs, and of course the best payouts by far. Ticket prices? Ain't cheap to pay out that purse and the end of year payouts. Someone posted that some WoO events only had 10 WoO drivers. Was that 20 or 25 years ago? Certainly wasn't last year and certainly won't be this year. This bitching about the WoO. If you don't want to go, don't go, but good grief, stop the constant bitching year in and year out. Apparently people do want to go or the series wouldn't be around. I mean, year after freaken year after freaken year, this bitching about the WoO. Its like you've made bitching about the WoO an industry itself. Yeah, I'm CEO of the Anti-WoO conglomerate.

dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

No.
Last April's 1 hour & 35 minute,2 reds for refueling ,COUNTLESS yellows 35 lap A feature cured me from ever spendin another thin dime on a WoOps race.
An A feature that starts 16 cars that ends after 12:30AM is in-excusable.

Did you have a coupon? I called and ordered some tickets for the ASCS opener in Tulare and paid $35 a ticket, not complaining though as I know it will be an awesome show.
Funny thing is the WoO events there and elsewhere in Ca. are about the same as the ASCS so whats the big deal? If you wanna see the best, 360 or 410, wing no wing....you'll pay no matter where your at, I know I will.
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

I really do feel for you Jeff. I leave my house about a half hour before show time and drive 15 to 20 min. every Friday and Saturday night for great 410 sprint racing. I live in Dover, Pa. right down the road from Lincoln and Williams Grove Speedways. Mid Summer it can be 3 or more shows a week easily. I know some of the Pa. fans can go off the deep end once in a while, but it is no wonder they are so passionate about the sport. I have seen plenty in my time from Tommy, to Toby, Weld, Opperman, Paxton, May's, Smith's and many, many more. Life has been great here in Pa. I can't complain about seeing some of the best over well more than 50 yrs. of memories. I have two son's heavily involved in the sport i have always loved, so yes it doesn't get much better.

How sweet would that be to be only 20 minutes from william grove and lincoln speedway. I wish i had that problem! I drive two and ahalf to three hours to go to eldora and tri-state speedway in haustadt indiana. I live in indiana which mean i get one maybe two wings shows a year. I have to go the world of outlaws they are the best! It really is not about the money. I would love to go and see the ascs but until they tow east into indiana and ohio that is not a option.
