OCEAN SPRINTS RACE INTO 2011 WITH
NEW SCHEDULE AND STAFF
WATSONVILLE,
CALIFORNIA (January 18, 2011) – After releasing a 15 race schedule earlier this week, the
Ocean Sprint Car Series presented by Taco Bravo is announcing the addition of a
new member to its series’ staff.
Steven
Blakesley will assume the role of series PR Director and Announcer for the 2011
season.Blakesley takes over the duties
from Gary Thomas, who is moving on to a full-time position as Director of
Communications for the new Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series.
Blakesley
is also the PR Director and Announcer for the USAC Western Classic Racing
Series and handles a variety of PR and website work under the Blakesley Sports
Media banner.
“I am very
grateful for the opportunity that John Prentice has presented me,” Blakesley
said.“I know I have big shoes to fill
but I hope to bring a high level of excitement and professionalism to the Ocean
Sprint Car program.”
The Ocean
Sprint Car Series will compete 13 times at Ocean Speedway including the 51st
running of the $5,000 to win “Johnny Key Classic” along with single appearances
at Tulare Thunderbowl and Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford.
With the
expanded schedule for the 2011 Golden State Sprints and influx of new drivers,
the Ocean Sprints championship looks to be as wide-open as ever.Promoter John Prentice has grown the series
to become one of the top weekly 360 programs in California.
Tommy
Tarlton topped young Kyle Larson to win the 2010 series crown in a duel that
went down to the final night of racing.
The season
will kick off on Friday March 25 with Wingless Sprints, American Stocks, and
4-Bangers also scheduled to compete.
