This is a great trip. You really see the best of PA, Knoxvile, All Stars, and Outlaws every night. Grewat food and they run trhe show very professionally.
You'll enjoy it very much, bring warm clothes!!

Yes, it can be worse...was there 2 years ago & they had record low temperatures, and these shows are at night.
The Icebreaker at Lincoln was warmer than what we experienced at Volusia.
Hopefully, it's not that cold this year!

Best group of drivers you'll see ALL year, including the Nationals.
Coldest night in my life was a race at Volusia back in the 90's and I used to live in Edmonton, Alberta.
It's generally warm enough to tailgate and they used to have a great dessert in fried donuts, right Mr.Mac? Well worth the trip, lots to do, enjoy. Take It Easy....

I was also thinking of going are there plenty of places to stay close to the track?I thought of just going to the All Star Wed, or Thur do the Woo teams usually run with them, what about car counts? Wish I had gone last year to see Hockett , my cousin owned the car and it was always exciting to watch him wing or no wing. Thanks Dennis

Shouldn't be too hard to find a place close. 10-15 min. drive to Ormond Beach right along Route 40 has a bunch of places. Haven't been there in 4 years but it's always nice to get away from 4 inches of snow. And yes, 30 degrees in Florida is one cold M-Fer
do it in the dirt

at least a couple of places relatively close to the track.... volusia speedway's website lists motels that are pretty close 15-20 mins.

If it's the week in between qualifying and the 500 you will have a lot of NASCAR folks checking out the races and many, many of their drivers hangin' out in the pits. Amazingly they aren't bugged too much by the fans although I haven't been there for a few years now.
Richard you will find a lot of your Posse friends there as many of your locals turn out to run the C and B Mains. Generally, a good crowd, decent racing and lots of fun with the best group of cars at ANY race you'll see all next year, anywhere! Take It Easy....

Richard, ditto ol' friend. You and Pops will have a blast, bring warm clothes and have some fun. If the track is decent the racing will be just fine. Take It Easy...

Hey Nellian! Mac's right, we've looked for the damn doughnut truck ever since and got shutout every time! Those things were amazing, just as well they aren't there I'd gain 20 pounds over those nights for sure.
This is the best five or six nights of racing anywhere. About the same size field as the Kings Royal but higher quality if you can believe that. All at the same place several nights in a row. Palm trees in the pits, can't get much better than that. Everyone's right, dress warm, 40 degrees in Florida is a lot different than 40 degrees in Ohio. Ski coat and longjohns are not out of the order, and gloves. Can't wait, wish it started tomorrow!

Yo' Dave, I miss those few times we sat in the stands and swapped some tales and had some laughs. To be honest, in retirement I remember those things more than the 500+ Outlaw shows I was at over that decade or so. Hope you guys have a blast down there and the Sun God shines on you for the whole week, Take It Easy....
