Knoxville won't have to pay the full tv production cost, more publicity for the WoO, and some no nammer will get his 1st career WoO victory on Friday's nonqualifier.

I don't have anything to base this on but a hunch .... so maybe someone can post a few of the winners here of the Friday night Nationals A Feature over the years...... got a feeling many ...many of them are NOT no namers and maybe a few have won WoO features before or after.

at only 21 i'm too young to remember many details about the format back when it was sanctioned before. Are there any provisionals?

No, the format hasn't really changed that much from before. If it is like it was before the Outlaw drivers will be awarded show up points, similar to the gold cup......I think

Is Kraig Kinser a no-namer?

Herrera, Madsen, K.K. have won some WoO A features before ..... I'm not sure about that Swindell guy though ..... did he ever win anything but some type of a local show or two at W. Memphis?? (might have been a 360 race it seems like)

The Nationals used to carry a WoO sanction, but because it uses a specific format(half of the cars run each night), there is no real way to properly award WoO points since the teams are not facing all of the WoO cars on a given night, as well as running fully inverted heat races, spmething that the WoO never does. SO o it's a non-standard program in the eyes of the WoO.

The WoO used to award 75 points to ALL WoO teams that ran the Nationals to make this a "fair" points race event.

But I don't know that Knoxville ever paid a sanction fee to the WoO for the Nationals; the WoO boys will run the Nationals anyway, if only for the $$$ and the prestige. A promoter would be crazy to schedule a WoO race up against the Nationals - or very foolhardy.

IIRC, Rockhold was an Illinois driver. He ran a bunch of USAC non-wing races, but also spent several seasons as a Knoxville regular in the mid '90s through the start of the 2000s. He never really did a whole lot, but he does have a couple 410 wins at Knoxville.

Why make the Nationals WoO sanctioned?

My question exactly " WHY SANCTION THE KNOXVILLE NATIONALS ?? " Well , let's see , cost savings for Knoxville possibly , Goodyear might had something to do with it ? they should have considered the fans , but they didn't , why ? this may ruin a great race from last year , the WRG WANTED MORE PR BADLY AND THIS RACE , now some of the favorite drivers of the WoO may gain some advantage ? they sold Knoxville a bill of goods , this may slow down the race as far as pit road or work area , the new FUEL CELL RULE MAY HAVE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT , and they didn't like TIM SHAFFER , A NON -OUTLAW DRIVER WINNING , now the time trials may favor the Outlaw drivers ,as it's all about time trials with the outlaws .

YES , AS YOU CAN TELL I AM TOTALLY AGAINST THE WoO SANCTIONING OF THIS RACE , ONLY BECAUSE IT MAY RUIN IT FOR FANS OR THE RACE IN GENERAL

I agree, the fans fan.

I was actually planning on goint to the Nationals this year, after last years GREAT race. But I will not go watch favorably "handicapped" freight train races.

They Knoxville say they have chosen to stay together to unite in keeping 410 racing strong as ASCS 360 RACING IS GROWING IN STRENGTH .( there reasoning for choosing to sanction this year )

COST CUTTING THE 410'S IS NEED BADLY NOT BEING UNITED ALONE , CUT THE SANCTION FEE WRG , COST YOUR DRIVERS COSTS SO THEY CAN RACE WITHYOU FOR A WHOLE SEASON NOT JUST HALF A SEASON ,so you take with you more cars not 15 or less

lol. The Nationals were sanctioned by the Outlaws until 2005. I highly doubt there will be any format change at all. "Sold your soul to the devil"? hahaha that's my favorite post in a while.

I thought the reason they dropped the WoO is because of the fees they had to pay the WoO. Knoxville said screw this were going to put that money towards the purse. IF I were a promoter at another track I would be looking into the discount Knoxville is getting for allowing the WoO to sanction the nationals.

Talk about getting your panties in a bunch...geeesh...

This is the Knoxville Nationals, just like it's always been. It's carried the WoO sanctioning before so no biggie.

Not one procedure change has been announced and all of a sudden the sky is falling. Take a chill pill.

Anybody that thinks Knoxville will turn over any control of this event to the WoO needs to take a cold shower.

Grab some crackers and cheese, sit back in your recliner, and watch some NFL playoff games and just relax.

Until you hear of any changes, which I highly doubt, stop trying to stir the pot...CZ

Maybe someone could explain to me what the difference is between the Outlaws sanctioning the 410 Nationals and ASCS sanctioning the 360 Nationals? To me it doesn't seem like that big of a deal....
