OK, here are 2 questions from a new guy that should get some interest:
1)In years past, Steve Kinser dominated. Not so much any more... why? Age & reflexes? Other teams caught up technically? or?
2) A video on WG board of racing from the early 80s says cars have 600hp. Nowadays it seems to be more like 800-900hp. What accounts for the big increase? rule changes? Technical advances? if so, which ones?
thanks

Steve has done it all! Why have motor went up in price and up in hp? Better technology. Liter parts mean fast cars. People have learned how to build a better mouse trap!

Nance hit it pretty simply there.
Getting notices from our vendors effective Jan 1, 2011 prices going up 3-5% on parts. Looks like engine prices will be going up again too.

Everybody has the same equipment today. As Kenny Wallace said when Jimmy Johnson won his 5th title, and with Kyle Petty sitting next to him during their post-race analysis, "Kyle, I love your dad, he's the king, but back then only about 5 cars had a chance of winning and during Dale Earnhardt's haydad, maybe 8 or 9 cars had a chance of winning". From the look on Kyle's face, I don't think he appreciated Wallace's remark.
But even with the same equipment, the best drivers rise to the top, as shown by Kinser's winning several races this year at age ???, 50 something. But, age is not helpful in this rough and tumble sport of sprint car racing.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.
