Not to change the post, but I have only seen glimces of Kyle in some wing shows, the Chillibowl and to my amazement this race at the PAS for the Glenn Memorial. He has a lot of talent, but it is suttle. Personally I think he drives as fast as he can without tearing up equipment. I think this is very important to car owners and his own physical being for not getting hurt and ending his career.
And I personally think Kyle's destiny may be in another form of racing which he might turn out to be well suited for. Indy racing. And his eventual path may be different than Brad Sweet or Kasey Khane or even Jeff Gordon or JJ (Jimmey Johnson). Tony Stewart may be the only example that does not follow suit. Smoke has won a Indy Championship.
He is one of the few dirt stars that has won in Indy, Nascar, and the triple crown in USAC. And by all rights we might see Kyle and Tony Stewart compete in a WoO race someday in the future. Tony wants to run WoO in some form or another. I think that is one reason he owns a WoO team. He wants to accomplish something in the WoO.
Anything Kyle does will be for an eventual destiney and in my eyes if I could look into the future 5-10 years down the road it will be in running the Indy 500.
That is my assessment of Kyle's talents. He is no Kaeding, he is not Damion Gardener or even Mike Spencer although I see a lot of similarities. If anything he is more like Tracy Hines or Bob East.
Personally I see some traits of Mark Donahue, Ned Jarrett (that won two Nascar Championships and is in the Hall of fame), David Pearson (who won three Nascar Championships and is in the Hall of Fame) and possibly Parnelli Jones, which I really didn't see race, but I have a hunch Kyle may drive like Parnelli did or possibly think like Parnelli.
One things for certain. People are giving him chances. I think his talents are well known and people are giving him a shot at showing his talents. Heck I wouldn't be surprized if Tim Green is spreading the word for Kyle.
Sincerely,
Larry Otani
P.S. I only hope Kyle does things off the track that will help him win races or get the rides on the track. That could be a number of things. School being one, but it doesn't have to be. I just can't help but think a racers career is not only judged and awarded by his skills, talents on the track but what he does with himself when not on the road. I don't have all the answers, but he definitely has a chance to accomplish something in racing if he hasn't already and that very few will or be even given the chance.
