Matt Streeter brings home 6th place finish in Chico
By Gary Thomas
Chico, CA - April 30, 2007...Matt Streeter and the Orth Family Racing team were once in the Silver Dollar Speedway pit area this past Friday night as we competed in Point Race #5 at the Chico bullring. Coming into the night Matt sat in the fourth position in the John Padjen Motorsports wingless spec sprint point standings and looked to gain ground on the leaders.
The Orth Family Racing, A.R.T. Enterprise, M & S Racing Engines No. 24 lined up on the pole of the night’s first wingless spec sprint heat race. Matt fell into third early on before finding a nice line midway through and taking the lead with passes of first and second within a one lap span. The former BCRA Midget champ pulled away to bring the No. 24 machine home with his second heat race win of the season in Chico.
The 20 lap wingless spec sprint main event saw Matt start from the seventh position and he ran around there early on before a caution came out on lap five. The Mike German & Sons, Vaughn & Family, T & T Trucking Inc. No. 24 was running in sixth when the caution came out and after that he began to dice it up with the drivers running fourth through seventh. The Silver Dollar Speedway was as racy as it’s been all year and Matt got up to as high as fourth before falling to sixth on the final lap where he would finish. Even though he lost a position on the final lap it was still a good, exciting run for Matt and the Orth Family Racing team.
Next Friday we’ll be back in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway for Point Race #6. Matt continues to sit fourth in points, 37 behind leader Billy Wallace.
