From what everyone said the past 2 months, this race was going to be awesome! Well, to say I disagree on that would be a total understatement. What in the heck were the Little Rock track promoters thinking? Didn't they see this disaster coming after the 1st night of racing? Didn't they have some sort of plan to re-work the track? I mean, ya have some of the best sprint-car drivers from all over the country coming to race, and you give them a single-file affair race track? To not even be able to make a run in your heat race sucks. The guys that were in the 4th heat and later were screwed, and the qualifiers were follow the leader 95% of the time. I mean to have a race of this magnitude have to drop the finale laps from 40 to 30 because tires weren't gonna make it is a total disgrace! What do you think would happen if Knoxville dropped their laps on Saturday night? Or if Williams Grove or Chico or Lernerville? Heck, I have been to local tracks that "farm" the track as needed. Also, I have been to many WoO shows that will delay the program 20 minutes to a half hour to re-work the track in order to have a much more competitive A-main, and it almost always works out great. Why couldn't this have been done during the course off the week for perhaps the biggest 360 show of the year? I'm calling this race a total flop and have to say I am majorly disappointed in how the entire week played out surface wise. Don't look for me to make any travel plans to Little Rock any time soon. This is about as disappointing as it gets when it comes to "big-time" racing. Sorry if some of you don't like it, but dang, what a let-down!

This isn't the first time and the racers know it. They really got what they deserved and get what they deserve when they support a race just because they don't have anything better to do and its the only race running. I'm a race fan but I don't feel the need to go to every race. A little track with a hundred cars/ it's obviously too many cars for the track to survive. The ascs needs to develope a tire that can't transfer rubber to the dirt surface/ that would go a long way towards saving Sprint car racing. Make it four inches narrower while your at it.

Chili Bowl reworks the track and the Boone Nationals also rework their track........of course the WoO does that too but they only have 19 cars.

Not sure what you mean about 19 cars as the WoO usually gets over 30 cars and they always rework the track if necessary and THEY NEVER CUT LAPS!!!
I would be so pissed if I paid money and waiting around all night and they cut the laps off the A main. I will stick with 410's & the WoO.

three years ago and previous years the track was great till end of feature, they can do it but they chose not too, I think they like it to be the slowest 1/4 track and too decrease the chance of another bad injury

Right on Grove, Trophy Cup best 360 show anywhere bar none. Steve Ferria does one hell of a job with track prep, lets not forget Dave and all his vounteers. I don't know the STN gets all the publicity.

The WoO never cut laps? Tell that to the fans that went to Tri-City this year for the WoO show and had laps cut from the a main because the powers that be didn't think that the tires would hold up to the surface.

I don't like beating up on the Short Track Nationals but have to admit that we,too, will be saying goodby to our annual trip to the gathering of the clan because I guess we are getting too old for this.At 76 years old I will have to limit myself to trips that at least entertain me when I have to endure bone chilling temperatures for periods of 5 hours or more.I have enjoyed watching racing since my husband introduced me to it at 17 so after almost 60 years of it, I at least acknowledge that THIS AIN'T FUN,GUYS !
Flying to races on the left coast are not an option either since we don't enjoy flying. The Short Track Nationals are the last opportunity of the year to see quality drivers and racecars compete and for us Midwesterners we anticipate the event with great hopes every year. But regretfully,it is time to at at last admit the truth and explain the reasons. The format is the attraction because we do not like time trials, but it is also the increased number of laps that are run that kill the surface. While the powers to be decide the answer, we will await the outcome in the comfort of our homes.I am sure that we will not hurt their crowd as it appears to be mostly locals and there will be plenty of them to take our places.
My son's suggestion is that they move the event to a track like Haubstadt,IN where they have the equipment and skills to break up the track surface quickly and present a premier racing surface in a short time, but we all know that this will not happen when I-30 Speedway has such a little money maker in hand and has established the tradition. So,farewell Little Rock ! It's been good to know you.

I feel the same sentiments as most of you above. This race was a must on my calendar as well, not only from a business standpoint but as a race fan.
I feel the format needs to be changed as well. They emphasize the importance of the heats and qualifying races for points and then on the final night if you run 1st or 2nd in the qualifier your automatically in the A. It was brought to my attention that Wayne Johnson had 716 total points after it was all said and done and didn't make the feature yet guys that had points in the 600's made it!!
I'm not mad just dissapointed because like I said at the beginning, this was a must see race!!!

True but the qualifiers on Sat were lined up by points with no invert. The high point guys just had to hold their own off the front row. The rubber track should have made it easier but still some couldn't do it.
They really missed the boat when they didn't work the track after the heats. It was already taking rubber at that point. There was no doubt what was going to happen. Some track work at that point might have saved the night. Unfortunately they let it go. The poor grader had no chance later. All he could do was barely scratch the surface.
Concerning Wayne, I thought I'd read somewhere the highest point car for the show that didn't transfer in got a provisional. That would be a good move but I guess it didn't happen.
