Not complete but here's what I have:

1. Chuck Swenson
2. Curt Lund
3. John Nelson
4. Eric Lutz
5. Mike Sargeant

17 cars.  Joseph Kouba destroyed a car in his race.  Tony Hargrave also broke in the heat.  Those 2 did not start the feature.  Of the 15 starters, only 8 finished.  Other drivers include (in no particular order) Dusty Ballenger, Lee Grosz, Mike Sitzmann Jr, Dave Glennon, Bill Balog, Dave Becker, Jerry Richert Jr., Kevin Nickel, Ken Melonson, Tom Kamrath.

Swenson started on the pole with Sitzmann outside.  Sitzmann raced to the lead but spun in turn 4 collecting several cars before coming around to lead the first lap.  This put Lund on the front row for the restart where he and Swenson raced unchallenged from there.  Grosz was running a strong 3rd when he clipped an inside tire barrier which ended his run.  Lutz was impressive late when he moved up a groove and passed several cars in the closing laps.

I hear that one driver got DQ'ed for the wrong (?) muffler in an unsanctioned race. What the heck is that all about ? Why wasn't that pointed out after the heat race instead of waiting until after the feature ? Is sprint car racing getting to be that chickens**t ?

The rules (ASCS Northern Plains except tires) were posted on here and on other websites.

It is the Driver's responsibility to ensure that his ride complies with the rules before hitting the track.

I am not sure who was D'Qed after the race, but a muffler did fall off in a heat race and that would be a D'Q.

Pffffft !!! They need more cars so they pull crap like that to discourage cars from attending ? Why wasn't that insignificant muffler issue addressed after hot laps or after the heat race ? Did they wait 'til after the feature just to add one more car to the race knowing full well that it would be penalized after the race ? Was it the speedway management that enforced the disqualification (it was, after all, an unsanctioned event) or how was it done ? Did that "unapproved" muffler provide a performance advantage ?

The fact was the car had a illegal muffers on the car and it was addressed after the races, the car owner was not happy with the results, but he knows why it happen and was racing with the same group the next night at Cedar Lake Speedway. With a borrowed set of headers. I am the one that called the shots that night. I didn't even know about the mufflers until after the feature race at the payoff window. How I found out is no bodies business. To me it sounds like people that weren't even at the track are more upset about what happened then the car owner that was found illegal. I don't think we need to answer any questions about how or why this car was allowed to run the whole night. Anyone that wants to come and tech these cars are more then welcome to. I will get you in for free. We had an issue at Cedar Lake with mufflers too, and I found that the mufflers were ok in my opinion to run even tho they didn't have the correct ASCS part number. The other drivers were ok with my decision also. The mufflers on Friday night were no where close to being like the mufflers that needed to be run. They were 3 to 4 inches shorter and I made the call. Plan and simple. It's a done deal. Also, I did talk to that driver a week before the race about the rules and had told him we go by ASCS muffler rule. Whether he heard me or not, that's another story. It's a done deal.

Nit-picking at its finest ! It would seem that, if track management didn't have a problem with those mufflers, it should have ended with a warning. I guess I'm missing the days (70's) when it was "run whatcha brung".....and we rarely, if ever, heard any whining over piddly stuff like that.

Every HP is worth how much in the engine shop? In an unsactioned race this is what you end up with. Why have rules were just here to race? Sarcasm

My two posts were largely in the form of questions....only one of which was answered satisfactorily, that being the one about chickens**t.

By the way....I have not been in contact with the "offending" driver about this. Haven't talked racing with him in many weeks. My posts were my own opinions and mine alone.

SJFast, There rules were posted for e veryone wellin advance of the season starting. The rules state VERY CLEARLY the ASCS part number required to be legal. They also state that if you CHOOSE not to run the correct LEGAL muffler you will be subject to being DQ'd. Along with the muffler required to run it also states they must be fastened i a way so that they DO NOT come loose in the race, should that happen you will also be DQ'd So every driver out there knows going in that if your going to run Illegal or cheat you will be dq'd. So why are you so upset?? There have been teams dq'd at Knoxville for the same reasons and probally at other tracks too. At Jackson last year we were told at pre race inspections that our muffler was illegal even though it was the required ASCS muffler. AFter the race (we actually placed 10th) we were told that since we raced with an unapproved muffler we were paid for last place. We even took the mufflers off and presented them to JP after the race and showed him his own rules but nothing was changed. So I believe we had a reason to be upset, your posts here NOTHING

Upset ? I'm not upset. I was just attempting to find out how chickens**t sprint car racing has become.....and now I know what the "CS" in "ASCS" stands for ! Smile

Note : I heard that the same guy had a higher finish on Saturday night with the "approved" parts.

SJfast , or what ever your real name is, Chicken shit my ___s!!! I tried to make this even for everyone. Now you buy a damn car work your butt off to pay for it then go out to the races and get a position taken away for you by an illegal car then you tell me if that is ok. Hell I got a great idea, the next race I will bring out my 410s and let everyone run their 360s against them, I mean since you think an unsanction race means no rules need to apply or be enforced. You call your self a sprint car fan? Why don't you put up the money like I did , put on your own damn race and we'll run under your non- chickenshit rules forum. Then when you get 5or 6 racer crawling up your ass because something is not the same as your rule book you can deal with it , like Chuck and I did, I have spent thousand of dollars over the last few years trying to help sprintcars here in our area and all I get for it is shit like this. I never get even a thank you from any of you, its all bitchen like this. Now again put up the money so you can have a say,or shut your loud mouth. Any time you want to dicsuss this like a grown up?? e-mail me or call me.

I couldn't have said it any better Joe. Only thing is, I don't let these grandstand racers get to me. I have offered SJFast or anyone the opportunity to come into the pits anytime they want to help tech these cars, if fact, They can run the whole show from drivers meeting to line-ups to making sure the cars are ready to go on time for all I care. I will get you in for FREE. So their next opportunity will be June 14th at Cedar Lake and June 22nd at Kopellah Speedway, the non-sanctioned 360's will be back running both tracks again. If anyone is interested, call me at 612-845-1830 or e-mail me at [email protected] and I will set everything up so that you can be in charge. Now SJFast, it's your chance to show your true colors, if I don't hear from you, I WILL know just how chicken shit YOU are. O, one more then, bring some money along just like Joe has done in helping sponsoring these events. It will cost you $1500.00 per event.

I thought I was doing something positive for Sprint cars. Shit---- maybe I missed something, I am getting old and senile but I thought putting up the money to to make a half decent payoff was being positive. I get sucked up in this BS forum thinking it really matters but it dosen't. Idiots think alike, normal people think normal.

And to think this all started with a simple question on the night's results. SJ Fast?? Get a clue. The run what ya brung lingo went out in the 70's. ASCS, since you don't have a clue, stands for American Sprint Car Series. Chicken s**t gets spread on the fields for fertilizer. Now that this has been clarified, I think it was well docummented that the races this last weekend would follow ASCS rules. Period the end..... Chuck and Joe, I wasn't able to make your race either, so a press release of the results would have been nice. Sprint car racing in the great north seems to be on shaky ground at best. Your efforts are a breath of fresh air into a struggling class, please don't let a few comments from someone who can't even post his real name affect your judgement on the positve things that you are trying to accomplish.

Faithfully submitted, Ken Netsch, former owner, always a supporter, Go Meyer 7S!!!
