Had no idea that Evernham had ever driven sprint cars yet in National Speed sport news late Sept issue he finished 2nd at Bassett,VA in the Virginia Sprint Series RaceSaver Nationals. 23 cars in the feature. Don't know if this is winged or not but stout field or not, 2nd is pretty good. Good for him. He's doing a lot for dirt racing. Except I don't like those legend cars that Bruton Smith and him are working on a series for.
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

I think its great he is running sprint cars. The more drivers & teams the better IMO. Plus, any extra attention this brings to sprint cars racing is also a plus.

Hawker
That is what we fans had hoped for .... build your stuff (as much as you can at home .)
Drag you car to the races with a old pick up and an open trailer ... the oldsters can have some fun mentor the rookies ...the young guys can learn and get experience ..and no one feels like they are getting out spent and out 'resourced.'
I agree ...good from the publicity angle for sprint cars....
Just don't get to carried away reading your own press clippings Ray ... (you would, most of the time ...be a 'B' main filler at the Knoxville 360 weekly shows .... promise.)

So where would this put you in the field........
I give Ray credit for getting out there and doing it. It's no ones business what he spends to race so why bag on him? Seems some of you have nothing better to do than cast stones.
The older I get the faster I was

J was pitted next to Ray that night and Ray came in after every race with an ear to ear grin. At one point he said that running the 305 was the most fun he's ever had.

The guy had some money and bought a car for him and his wife and I think that means hang him for doing such a terrible thing.
Jetting into Des Moines every week to race that is a crime by it's self to be hung for.
It is called having fun racing and even if you don't like it she made the A at the nationals and that was their objective.
Shame on them for doing what they like

Props to Ray (and Erin) for doing what they like.
Haters will hate. Really just jealousy I suppose. It's hard for some to watch others who've been successful (and/or had the breaks) in life do something they can't.

Ray probly meant to tag/qualify that statement by including the phrase "...with my clothes on..."

The VA sprints series is a racesaver series. smaller tires no front wings. Winner gets like 200 or so to win.

Following up on the Racesaver series thread. They run a spec head and the motor has to be inspected and sealed by a Racesaver official.
For all intents and purposes it is a spec motor series. No way he could have a motor much different than everyone else.

I have never seen Evernham race a Sprint Car, so I can't comment on his ability or lack of ability in that division. But he was a very good asphalt Modified driver at Wall Stadium (N.J.) in the 1980s. He was a winning asphalt Modified driver back in the days probably before he even gave a thought to making the big time in NASCAR.
That being said, Evernham was pretty horrible the one year he showed to run on the dirt at the Syracuse (N.Y.) Mile.

I agree with azteca. The last thing we need is two more sprint cars in our field at Knoxville, especially people who are popular with the fans coming from far away! ...and they enjoyed themselves, all the more the crime!
By the way, Ray blew his own motor the first night out and drove someone else's ride all but the last race he competed in...and didn't Erin make the Knoxville Nationals finale again?
