Arleta Voyce Retiring After 45 Years of Dedicated Service!

9/17/2010 - Arleta Voyce Retiring After 45 Years of Dedicated Service
September 17, 2010

Knoxville, Iowa – After 45 years of dedicated service, Office Manager Arleta Voyce will be retiring from the Marion County Fairgrounds and the Knoxville Raceway. Since 1966 Arleta has been a fixture at Knoxville Raceway in the concession stand and then in the ticket office and scorers booth.

“Arleta has helped usher in thousands of changes and improvements for the Marion County Fair and the Knoxville Raceway over the years.” Stated Board President Terry Harvey. “You can never replace anybody that has been such an important part of an organization like ours.” Said Harvey. “ You can only hope to carry on their work in a manner consistent with the dedication she has shown.”

A retirement reception is planned for Friday, September 24th from 2-7 PM in the Bingley Building at the Marion County Fair Grounds. Everyone is welcome to attend.

I had the pleasure of finally meeting and talking with Arleta at this year's Nats and she is one helluva lady -- tough as nails with a heart of solid gold.

Arleta was great to work with from an outside promoter/sponsor standpoint too. Extremely detail oriented, to the point and dedicated.

I appreciated her dedication and attention to every detail...and the friendship and genuine concern she displayed towards those events. Definitely a corner stone of what helps Knoxville special.

Now that she gets to retire, I wonder if we'll get to see her in the stands enjoying the races instead of working them?

Here's to a job well done Arleta!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Arleta on a refund of a prepaid entry fee after a rainout. Very well handled by Arleta.

Can you say "lifetime seat in the HOF for Arleta?"

Arleta has made Cappy look pretty smart over the years. I will call it right now, Cappy will follow very soon. He knows who butters his bread. You heard it here first.

Did I imply it here first? I'm never first anymore. What do you mean butter his bread? Another implication? You can have credit on that one. Freak.

It won't be the same visiting the ticket office without giving Arleta a bad time. It will be very hard to replace her in her job and nobody could replace her personality.

I don't have any involvement with the track office anymore, but when I did, it was a great pleasure to work with her.

I did not mean for my post to sound so negative. I got a email from his son and went back to read it. Wow I am an idiot. I think Cappy would tell you that Arleta has probably made his life and job much easier and better over the years. That is what I was trying to say. Arleta is as good as they come. She will be greatly missed. My comment about Cappy leaving, I was speculating that after they replace Arleta he will realize how good she was and how hard she will be to replace. Making his job much harder. Thanks for the heads up John.

I talked to Arleta today and she said she would still be around the race track each week. She'll be in the scoring/timing booth.
