There is A possibility the soil at the fair grounds might be contaminated . As I stated on another thread

Ascot Park in Ca was closed in 1990 and still sets undeveloped because toxic chemicals were found in the soil. This will not bring the race track back, but could wake some people up. I no longer live in Oklahoma and have nothing to gain by starting this thread. I simply am tired of beauricrats running over people for their own personal gains. You can contact the OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIROMENTAL QUALITY at 800-522-0206 and they will keep the information confidential. You may also call th E P A . YOUR DECISION THIS NEEDS TO BE PURSUED

My Mom's brother and his family lived in southern Cal. & they went to Ascot nearly every Saturday night throughout the 80's and 90's up until in was closed.

I remember him saying that Ascot was built where either a garbage dump originally was or a junkyard was. I am fairly certain it was a dump.

If I remember correctly soil contamination there was not because of a racetrack being there but was a "pre-existing" condition.

IMO, it could not have been too bad, palm trees were growing in the infield both ends 1 between turns 1&2 and down between turns 3 &4.

Everyone knows that the reason Clinton has the race track?

If you do not then it is b/c the land that the track is on was once the City of Clinton dump. Epa came in and said you could not build anything there for x amount of years.
