Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway May 12
(Lap Money Sponsors Needed)
The most exciting night of the year during the King of California Series will take place Saturday night May 12 at Silver Dollar Speedway. The race will feature a 40-lap main event that offers bonus lap money for the top three. If a driver is in the first, second or third spot during any lap of the race, they will be receiving bonus money. Each lap is $100 and sponsored by either business or individuals. The leader of a lap will receive $50, second $30 and third $20. The race win pays $3,000, however, John and Robbie Padjen add an extra $1,000 to make it $4,000. Then add on the bonus money and theoretically if someone led every lap of the main event, that driver could win $6,000. It's the highest paying one-night event during the King of California season.
In charge of gathering the lap money as usual are Dave and Dianne Durica. This year they have also purchased tee shirts for the event. The shirts make their appearance every two years. Make sure you get a shirt early because two years ago they were sold out before the Saturday night races began. Our friend Randy Frank has designed a new Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial shirt. On the back will list all of the previous winners of the event.
We are looking for lap sponsors for this year's event. That is their business number for D & D Roofing. The Durica's have been heavily involved with sprint car racing for many years. They have been in the charge of the Bradway Jr. Memorial for many seasons. Their family is a big reason that this race has continued to be such a huge success.
Once again HoserVilleCA will be a part of the Bradway Jr. Memorial. The popular Internet message board fans will sponsor a tire and a sleeve of tear offs for each heat race winner. After each heat race the winner will stop on the front stretch for a quick interview and receive the awards. Usually the driver then will take a trophy into the grandstands and give it away to a younger fan.
Last year's winner Sean Becker will lead the charge of some 30 drivers expected to compete. All eyes should be also focused on Jonathan Allard, a three-time Bradway Jr. winner. He is the only driver to win the race on three different occasions. As of now, both Becker and Allard sit first and second in the Golden State Points.
