Just saw the story on KFOR. Supposedly the rains over the summer took out the electrical motors that sit below the ground-level. No comment was made at 6 on rather or not it would ever be functional again.

That's funny, that thing has moved since summer? I like how they zoom in on the rusted areas, it's doomed.

Surprise, surprise, another electrical problem with a landmark on the fairgrounds.

They were really pumping it on channel 4 about how old the thing is and there isn't anyone that knows much about how to fix it. Again R.I.P. Space Needle.

The space needle was constructed in 1957 to help celebrate Oklahoma's 50th anniversary. It was called "Arrows to Atoms", and was really a big deal. Go ahead, city morons, tear down another historic landmark in the name of progress.

Yeah I heard Robin on channel 9 this morning say, "if it every works again" or something like that.
Monorail-gone
race track - gone
space needle - gone
Mick -- next election should be GONE

Are they telling us that after 57 years, it hasn't rained during the summer and just because of this summers rainfall the Needle is inoperative? Who does O'Toole and the rest of the Fairboard dimwits think we are? Haven't they ever heard of "routine maintenance"?
Sounds like another excuse for their "Master Plan".

Rememeber whocares we the citizens of Oklahoma are to stupid to think of this on our own. At least that is what they think.

I am not the only State certified, Unlimited Electrical Journeyman posting on this board, there are several others. So for the City or the Fair Board to claim that only certain structures at the Fairgrounds are unsafe for the public is absurd.
All of the buildings, including the Arena, Made in Oklahoma Building, etc. were all built around the same time period.
Although these structures are deemed safe to occupy, I have seen many code violations and I would love to meet with the City and the Fairboard to point out their abilities to look the other way.
The Grandstands was actually the safest place to be as far as electrical issues.
I will not step foot on the fair park because of the unsafe conditions.
