10th Annual Cowtown Topless 100 September 24-25; Details Announced

DarinShort.com. September 24-25 will mark the 10th Annual Topless 100 at Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale Texas. Joining the Topless Modifieds will be two separate points nights of racing for the raceTX.com Limited Modifieds, Winged 600’s, Restricted 600’s and Cowtown Bombers. Those classes will also be racing for additional purses.

Past winners of the prestigious event are: George White (2-time winner), Sean Jones (3-time winner), Nicholas Littlejohn, Troy Taylor and Bobby Malchus. Mother Nature was the only other winner and that was in 2003.

Here is a breakdown of the weekend’s events that include five exciting racing divisions:

Topless 100 for Modifieds. This is the 10th annual event, and it is the cornerstone event for the modifieds at Cowtown Speedway each season. They will be racing a grueling 100 laps, however each year the race seems to fly right by. 24 cars will start the feature for bragging rights and the $2,000 to win Topless 100 feature on September 25th. On Friday night, September 24th, a complete program of heats and qualifying features will be set the championship line-up for the Modifieds. The Performance Transmissions raceTX.com Limited Modifieds (racing for series points), Winged A-Class 600’s, Restricted 600’s and Cowtown Bombers will each run a complete points program each night.

A practice night is scheduled for all race divisions on Thursday September 23rd.

Drivers. Online early registration at the track website for the Topless Modified competitors is now open and will save $25 over race week pricing. By registering early, those teams will also receive a reserved paved pit space. Modified drivers not preregistering by September 21st will be parked in the pit area by track officials upon arrival on race night. This allows the track to keep organized and race fans informed of drivers they will see racing throughout the weekend. No phone-in registrations or pit reservations are allowed. Visit
http://www.CowtownSpeedway.com to preregister. The other race divisions do not have a preregistration for this event and will be parked by track officials on race night upon their arrival.

Fans can expect to see many of the top modified drivers in the region competing. The pre-entry list will be published as drivers sign up at the track website.

Two-day grandstand passes. Fans can save $5 by purchasing their tickets online at the track website through September 22nd; as 2-day adult grandstand pass will cost just $25. Adult tickets will be available at the gate on race night for $15 on Friday and $15 on Saturday. Youth and child tickets will remain at just $5 and $2 on each night. Visit

Weather. Late September is typically dry and highs in the upper 80’s. We will monitor the weather as the event date gets closer. In case of inclement weather, a Sunday September 26th backup is in place, with hot laps at 1pm and racing at 2pm.

A reminder that Topless Modified drivers have now until Tuesday to register online for this race to reserve pit parking and to save $25 off of race night pricing.

www.CowtownSpeedway.com and scroll down the page and you will see the quick 2-step registration process. You do not have to be a PayPal member to pay with any major credit or debit card.

All other racing divisions (raceTX.com Limited Modifieds, 600's and Bombers) do not have pre-registration or an entry fee and will be parked by track officials on race night upon arrival.

And race fans, you can save $5 off race day tickets by purchasing a two-day pass online between now and Thursday (the day before the race). There is no fee charged for online purchasing. If you've not seen them, personally, I like them better that way. You can see the driver 'working' in the car (like a non-winged sprint, for example).

Some of the drivers put a fair amount of duct tape on their cage & on their 'windshield' area to help block some of the bright lights that they normally don't encounter with a roof over them.

But when they come down the short shute in front of the stands, it's a pretty cool sight. They look more like warriors going to battle.
