Great weekend for the Tiner /Gardner /Urton 83 Team. Sunday nite, Damion led all (approx 60+ laps, including yellows) 30 laps. Although during the red flag fuel stop a black streamlight flashlight was dropped by one of his crewmwmbers, So could the fine person who among the hundreds of people who were in the area , picked it up for him, please call Jeff at 925.383.5324 so it can be rightfully returned to Jeff

Did I hear correctly that there were several blown tires in the main? Number I got was about 15, all just in the main. Is my info accurate or can someone share what they saw?

Track was junk for the main. Rubber down, tire eatin one laner. Not a good way to end an otherwise great race weekend. Sheridan was moving but got bit by what appeared to be a rearend problem. He was the only real threat to Gardner. Sheridan was fast all weekend. Shame it ended that way for him. I am no track preparer but when the track already has rubber laid down before the a main why not try something to rework the rubbered down areas? Anyone have any idea? Also there were some really odd lack of yellows at precarious times. Oh well...

It's true about the tires! This made me stop going to the NARC shows early 90's, it the reason BK would never raced the Outlaws there.. I do think USAC and the Fairgrounds owe the fans a ton, If this is going to be a yearly thing. To me they killed the race weekend Saturday then Sunday. On Saturday with 28 sprintcars 15 midgets and the midget ran only there A main just SUCKED! Yes a 20 lap sprint car main because of the 11pm time limit. ck

Now Sunday, Clayton didn't meet the weight limit Saturday night so he started in the rear of every race. Now I don't remember the lap he pulled in to replace his tire or tires so look where he finished.. He started in the back twice in the A main, Great driving! I told NARC I would never be back and I'm getting ready to tell USAC CRA the same.

Yes I was down at Perris the Saturday before sitting in turn 4 as the wind chill and dust was to much for turn 4 Rob! Right, Rob his new name is turn 1 Rob!

i know i'll catch hell for this but, here goes. track prep has been an issue at calistoga for years. you can't (whoever is in charge of track prep) just water the hell out of the track.. the water only goes about 1.5 to 2" deep. you need to open up the track (rip it) especially Calistoga because its volcanic dirt. the last time i was there was for the Civil War Race last August they put too much water on it and it delayed the show. if you look at the track about 1" deep it dry as a bone. i could see in hot laps it was gonna eat tires. also they need better lighting in turns 3 and 4. no wonder so many cars hit the wall in those turns.

If the same tire-eating, wallet draining, tire blowing situation happened at Hanford or Antioch this board would be lit up like a Christmas tree.

As Vermeil said we are into intertaining the fans if we don't do it they won't show up. I heard Mr. USAC on the DO Raccccinnng show saying this is the best thing in Northern California, because it's not saturated of this kind of racing. So who give a dam then this could be the last of three fans and a year and a half old new fan.

Can't even run 28 sprint cars and 15 midgets in 4 hours. When the midget only ran a A-MAIN.

No water truck either night to even do anything.

USAC doesn't prep the track

USAC could get the track prepped any way they want if they cared. USAC rents the track and runs the whole deal so they get all the money. At least they had reserved seats this year and avoided that fiasco.

I blinked and they were starting the midget main on Sat. I couldn't recall seeing the heats, but just chalked it up to senility I feel better now.

In the past three years of the Vermeil the midgets have not ran heats @ Calistoga.
