LUCAS OIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS AT PERRIS ON 40'S NIGHT THIS SATURDAY!

(APRIL 24, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Major league Sprint Car racing returns to Riverside County's Perris Auto Speedway when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars on 40's Night this Saturday, April 28th. All fans born in the 1940s, who show a valid id at the ticket window, will get into Saturday's race for just $5.00. In addition, The PAS will pass out free magnet schedules to all fans courtesy of longtime track sponsor Barratt Homes. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.

Two weeks ago when Santa Maria, California's "Showtime" Danny Sheridan won his first main event of 2007, it tied the all-time USAC record of 11 different winners in the first 11 races of a season. In addition to another different winner on Saturday setting the all-time USAC record, it would equal the CRA mark set in 1974 when 12 different drivers emerged victorious in the first 12 races of the year. Incidentally, dating back to the first weekend of November in 2006, the highly competitive Lucas Oil USAC/CRA series has produced an amazing 14 different winners in the last 16 races!

Saturday's 40's Night promotion is just another in the long line of promotions promoter Don Kazarian has planned for this year. In fact, he has been doing it for several years. "We always have a lot of promotions on our schedule like this week's 40s night," Kazarian said on Monday afternoon. "Competition for the entertainment dollar is fierce these days, especially in Southern California where there is so much to do. We try to have a little something for everyone. You go to some tracks in small cities in different parts of the country and there is nothing else to do, so everybody goes to the races. It is not like that here in the greater Los Angeles area so we have to be creative."

Creative is just what Kazarian has been over the past few years. The next scheduled promotion after this Saturday will be 50's Night on May 19th. The month of June is annually Kid's Month and all kids 12 and under are admitted free when an adult accompanies them. Other promotions in June include Bald Night (June 16th) and Tattoo Night (June 23rd). On Bald Night, anyone who is completely bald gets in for free. However, if someone shows up at the front gate with a full head of hair and wants to get in free, The PAS hires a barber who is stationed at the front gate to shave heads. There are several takers each year. On Tattoo Night, anyone with a tattoo that can be publicly seen gets in for just $5.00. And, you guessed it. If someone does not have a tattoo and they want to get in for free, there will be a tattoo artist at the front gate. No need to worry, guaranteed, the tattoo artist will be not be the barber who is shaving heads the week before.

The tracks most popular promotion is Skirt Night. Anyone, female or male, who wears a skirt or a dress, gets in for $5.00 and they get $1.00 hot dogs and $2.00 beers. Last year nearly 75 men showed up wearing skirts and dresses, which triggered an impromptu best-dressed contest among the men at intermission. The winner was to be determined by the cheers from the crowd. "Some guy who would dwarf most NFL offensive linemen showed up wearing a blue moo-moo," Kazarian said laughing. "The crowd went wild and he won in a landslide! Then we made him trophy girl for the main event. You should have seen the look on Damion Gardner's face when the guy stepped up on the podium to present him his trophy! It was priceless." This years Skirt Night will be August 3rd.

Other promotional nights on this years schedule that we have not mentioned include Hot August 70's Night on August 18th, Back to School Night on September 15th, 60's Night on September 29th and Fan Appreciation Night & Toy Drive on November 17th.

Saturday's 40's Night will be filled with the 21st century all-out action supplied by the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and will include qualifying, four 10-lap heat races, a 12 lap B main and a vicious 30 lap A main event.

On Friday, the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday's gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00.

Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.

Press Release, Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway

For Immediate Release
Thunderbowl Raceway hosts Pombo/Sargent Classic this Saturday
By Gary Thomas

Tulare, CA - April 23, 2007... The Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway is proud to present the annual Pombo/Sargent Classic this Saturday night April 28. This will be the second consecutive year in which the Pombo/Sargent Classic is being contested at the Thunderbowl and everyone involved with the track couldn’t be happier to have it back in Tulare. The evening of action will be highlighted by the 410 winged sprint cars of the Golden State Challenge King of California Series who will be making their second trip of the season to the Thunderbowl. Also in competition during the night will be the Western States Modifieds, which will also mark their second start of the season at the wide and racy 1/3 mile clay oval.

The Pombo/Sargent Classic has been going on for over 20 years and it honors California racing legends Al Pombo and Marshall Sargent. It originally started at nearby Kings Speedway in Hanford and last season moved to the Thunderbowl. The traditional July date for the event was changed this season after crowd support dropped off in recent years due to the scorching Central Valley Summer heat. This year the event also has become a one day show, as opposed to a two day event like it had been in the past.

An interesting facet about the Pombo/Sargent Classic is the fact that the event was created while both legends were still alive. Marshall Sargent has since passed, but Al Pombo is still going strong and is seen at the majority of the Thunderbowl races at his booth below the main grandstands. The Golden State Challenge Series comes into the Pombo/Sargent Classic on the heels of two consecutive rain outs. The series hasn’t competed since April 7 and this weekend’s Tulare date will be the eighth night of action for the traveling 410 sprint car group.

Leading the Golden State Challenge Series points coming into the Pombo/Sargent Classic is former King of California Sean Becker of Oroville. The 26 year-old driver finished third in the GSC event at the Thunderbowl in March and has scored four consecutive podiums in GSC competition. The driver known as the "Shark" has finished among the top five in all but one of the GSC events this season as he pilots the Fisher/Main Motorsports, Cherry St. Mini Storage No. 35m. He holds an eight point lead in the series standings and will look to pick up his first GSC win of the year, as well as his first career Thunderbowl victory this Saturday.

Defending Pombo/Sargent Classic champion Brent Kaeding of Campbell comes into this year’s Classic sitting second in the Golden State Challenge Series point standings, just eight points back of Becker. Kaeding picked up his 71st career GSC victory in March at the Thunderbowl and also won the series’ most recent event in Antioch on April 7. Last year BK scored a clean sweep of the Pombo/Sargent Classic as he drove his Al’s Roofing Supply, Kaeding Performance No. 69 to feature victories both night’s.

Chico’s Jonathan Allard comes into the Pombo/Sargent Classic sitting third in points, 12 behind Becker for the lead. Last season Allard won his first Golden State Challenge King of California Series championship and picked up one win at the Thunderbowl along the way. The 30 year-old driver navigated the Williams Motorsports, GT Trends No. 0 to a sixth place finish in the GSC event at the Thunderbowl in March. Allard had a dramatic opening night at last year’s Pombo/Sargent Classic as he jumped out to a huge lead in the feature before spinning a 360 and falling back to fourth where he went on to finish. He has one win with GSC this season, which came on opening night in Chico.

San Jose’s Jason Statler currently ranks fourth in the Golden State Challenge Series point standings coming into the Thunderbowl. "The Big Guy" finished 10th at the Thunderbowl in March, which was also his first time in Tulare driving the Tom Rolfe Trucking, DF Rios Construction No. 10 machine. The former King of California scored a pair of fifth place finishes at last year’s Pombo/Sargent Classic.

Rounding out the top five in the Golden State Challenge Series point standings is first year full-timer Willie Croft of Sacramento. Croft scored an impressive second place finish at the Thunderbowl last month in what was just his third night of ever racing at the 1/3 mile clay oval. He also won the dash that night and led 26 laps in the feature before Kaeding was able to get around him up high in turn one. The driver of the Holey Smokes BBQ, LRB Manufacturing No. 29 has tallied two quick times this season and has finished in the top 10 five times.

Other Golden State Challenge travelers expected at the Pombo/Sargent Classic will include: Chico’s Brett Miller, Salinas’ Ronnie Day, Tracy’s Jason Botsford, Campbells’ Bud Kaeding, Grass Valley’s Brad Sweet, Fairmont, Indiana’s Brandon Wimmer, Gilroy’s Jon Maiwald, Discovery Bay’s Jim Skinner, Scott’s Valley’s Evan Suggs, Fresno’s Mark Workentine, Redding’s Ric McCormick and more.

The Central, CA contingent will be made up of two-time Pombo/Sargent Classic champ Tommy Tarlton of Fresno, Visalia’s Ricci Faria, Tipton’s Mike Faria, Fresno’s Craig Stidham, Tipton’s Danny Faria Jr, Caruthers’ Garrett Ishii and Fresno’s Mike Stallings. D. Faria Jr. is expected to debut a new, beautifully hand painted scheme on his Stinger Chassis No. 17v machine this weekend

Many of the old time cars from the Pombo/Sargent era will be on hand during the night to turn some exhibition laps. This always brings back some great memories for many of the long time race fans so it should be a can’t miss night.

The front gate at the Thunderbowl Raceway will open at 5 pm this Saturday with Reserved Grandstand tickets costing $18 and General Admission bleacher tickets costing $15. To purchase tickets call 559-688-0909. First race is scheduled for approximately 7pm. For a seating chart, directions, a list of hotels and more, log onto

PRESS RELEASE, PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY, PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA
FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHN PADJEN MOTORPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, MONDAY, APRIL 23, 2007

Mother Nature to lift restriction, four divisions slated to come out and play at Placerville Saturday
By William Sullivan

PLACERVILLE,CA – Following two consecutive weather related cancellations, the 2007 El Dorado County New Car Dealer Association, Hoosier Racing Tires, Coors Light championship racing season will resume this Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. Under the promotion of John Padjen Motorsports, the 2006 National Auto Racing Promoter of the Year, Saturday’s program will be the third championship event of the year to take place and will feature 360 cubic inch sprint cars, pro stocks, pure stocks and the return of the Nor Cal Dwarf cars on the quarter-mile clay oval at the El Dorado County Fairground.

In the Pacific Sprint Division, the early season point standings show Colby Wiesz of Colfax in the lead with a one point advantage over Auburn’s Andy Forsberg. Placerville’s own C.J. Humphreys is the highest rank local driver after his recent feature victory. Humphreys sits third in the standings, six points ahead of Placerville’s James Sweeney, the 2006 Rookie of the Year. Placerville drivers Scott Russell and Jimmy Trulli are fifth and sixth in the ranks.

In the Pro Stock division, Dan Brown Jr. of Nevada City leads the point standings. Already a one-time winner this season, Brown holds a three-point advantage over Auburn’s Wayne Trimble. Two time champion Mike Moran of Rancho Cordova is third sitting ahead of Jeff Arbogast of Auburn, Marek Bernert of Orangevale and local drivers Dennis Armstrong , Forryst Carnett and Dennis Ahart.

This Saturday’s event will mark the first appearance of the 2007 racing season for defending Pro Stock Champion Jon Tilford of Folsom. Last season Tilford won the Pro Stock championship while his brother Tom Tilford won the Pure Stock title and the duo became the first set of brothers to share a championship title here. The third generation champion has yet to compete in the current championship season.

In the Pure Stock division, Matt Tilford of Folsom is the newest member of the Tilford clan to be at the top of the point standings. Driving the same #92 which his brother Tom drove to the title last year, Matt Tilford is proving the family name has strong blood lines in auto racing as he leads the standings with a four point advantage over Brian Stevens of Pollock Pines. Jason Englund of Citrus Heights is third followed by Terry Scher of Pollock Pines and Joe Olshowka. Former champion Mike McClure of Nevada City is one notch out of the top five in sixth, sitting ahead of his younger sister Michelle McClure.

The three track regulars will be joined on this night by the Nor Cal Dwarf Car Association. In their third appearance of the year, look for division regulars Mike Grenert, Brian Quilty, Shawn O’Leary to be on the roster along with the always exciting brothers from Grass Valley, Patrick and Daniel Weger and many more.

Saturday’s event will feature qualifying that will start at 6:30 p.m. Heat Races for all four divisions will take place as well as the necessary feature events that will lead up to the evening concluding 25-lap Sprint Car feature.

For further information on Saturday’ race, visit www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com, the official website of Placerville Speedway. Additional information can also be obtained by calling the track business office at (916) 969-7484.

Marysville Raceway Park - Press Release 4.22.07

Bob Burbach
MONSTER 4-division show April 28: Plus Extreme Bombers debut
Marysville CA. The long awaited debut exhibition of the Extreme Bombers will be added to a monster 4-division program offered at Paul and Kathy Hawes' Marysville Raceway Park this Saturday. The event will also feature the opening point races for the MRP Street Stocks and the MRP MiniStocks. The Pacific Sprint Cars and the Wingless Sprint Cars will bring their Thunder & Lightning brand of competition into their 2nd point race of the season.
Jeremy Burt of Grass Valley is leading the points after round one in the winged Pacific Sprint Cars. His challengers will be formidable. 2004 champion Mike Monahan will be back to take his shots at Burt as will Marysville's fastest duet, Cort and Brandon Dozier. Their collective hammer down styles will make the winged cars seem like they are flying around the quick ¼ mile. Gridley's Shawn Amos showed a quick and agile style on opening night and it will be interesting to follow his progress this season. Sacramento's Tom Baker surprised everybody last time out with a fine ride into the top five.
The MRP Street Stocks will bring a host of racers to the green flag this Saturday. The new payoff structure and the aggressive, fender-rubbing dynamics of this division should be of paramount interest locally. Last year's champion, Phillip Shelby of Yuba City will be back to defend his title. It won't be an easy task. The father-daughter duo of Yuba City's Jerry Bartlett and daughter Heather are as strong a one-two punch as any. Heather and Jerry both bring championships into the contest. Marysville's Jeff Olschowka has already let it be known that he is one of the quickest of the contenders for the crown. Olschowka also brings championship technique to the show. Former MRP champion "Bad" Billy Knoop has also thrown down the gauntlet telling this observer that he'll challenge once again for the crown that narrowly escaped him last season.
Marysville's James Foster was the quickest thing around in the MRP MiniStocks as 2006 sailed into history. Foster will try to keep the momentum up as the Minis take to the speedway this Saturday. 2006 Champion Joel Guisti and a triple threat with the last name of Merritt will be right there to keep things interesting. Mike, Shaun and Damian will keep the heat on. Opening night will play host to a full field of the quick, sleek racers. Marysville's Robert Luster deserves a mention here. Luster has been in the hunt for the title two of the last three years. His luck has been among the worst of any driver at the raceway. Perhaps 2007 can be his year.
In the MRP Wingless Sprint Cars a couple of names jump out as serious contenders for the title. Of course, point leader and feature event winner Mark Hill of Yuba City would be the favorite at this early stage of the season. Hill will be tough to beat this year, as his driving skills and his ride appear to be in top-notch condition.
Right in there this year, however a third generation racer is starting to make some noise. Tim Sherman Jr. of Sacramento quietly slipped into contention during point race #1 and simply ran out of time as he chewed his way toward leader. Sherman had an impressive run in Chico last week that opened a few eyes. Sherman may well be the spoiler in this year's race to the title.
An extra added event will feature The Extreme Bombers. They are Stock Cars with passengers. Passengers have the brake pedal. You MUST hit things? No yellow flags?
If it sounds bizarre, you're right. Paul Hawes will be introducing an exhibition run of this new type of competition to the fans as an extra-added attraction this Saturday. The Extreme Bombers will top off the card with a, hopefully wild and woolly chase to the checkers…if anyone can make it to the checkers. It's unclear how many entrants will show on this opening night for the Extreme Bombers. It's been long awaited and much anticipated. It will be interesting to see how it all goes.
Make our website one of your "favorites" on you computer. marysvilleracewaypark.com is the address. Watch this site for press releases and updates.

Pit gates open at 3PM Saturday. Spectator Gates Open at 5PM both nights with racing getting underway at 7PM. Contact the promoters at 1.530.743.1327 or email as indicated on the home page at marysvilleracewaypark.com.

EVEN DOZEN THE TARGET AS CRA RESUMES AT PERRIS SATURDAY! DRIVERS CHALLENGING USAC ALL-TIME RECORD

APRIL 23, 2007 --- All but 11 drivers in the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series have a chance to make USAC history Saturday as the series resumes at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

In 1994 11 different drivers won races to start the USAC Modified Series. That set a mark which has not been surpassed in USAC’s 52-year racing history. So far this year 11 drivers have won the 11 USAC/CRA feature events. Not included in that list is Rip Williams, who ranks eighth in the standings and has over 100 career Sprint car triumphs to his credit.

A 30-lap feature is slated at the Perris oval and Tony Jones of Norco, Calif. is guaranteed to retain his point lead over Mike Spencer, which stands at 94, with 74 available Saturday.

The 11 drivers who have found USAC/CRA victory lanes so far this year are: Darren Hagen, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Garrett Hansen, Spencer, Jones, Josh Wise, Charles Davis Jr., R.J. Johnson, Cory Kruseman, Scotty Weir and Danny Sheridan.

FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHN PADJEN MOTORSPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Monday, April 23, 2007
INTERNET INFORMATION:
www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com

Withrow's Motorsports and JP's Paint and Body Works Night at Silver Dollar Speedway

Three racing divisions highlight point race number five during the 2007 Feather Falls Casino / Hoosier Race Tire / Coors point championship season. The 410 sprint cars, pure stocks and the wingless spec sprints will race this Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The night will feature a $2,000 payday for the winged sprint car main event winner sponsored by Withrow's Motorsports and JP's Paint and Body Works. Both company's are located in and are heavily involved with local racing. Prizes will be thrown out to the fans in the grandstands.

Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Sprint car qualifying is slated to start at 7 pm with racing to follow. Adult general grandstand admission is $10.00. Juniors and senior's are $8.00 while children are $4.00. Pit gate will open at 4 pm.

Chico's Jonathan Allard leads the sprint car point standings for the first time this year. Currently a tight three-way battle is unfolding for the championship. Allard holds a slim lead over San Jose driver Jason Statler. Auburn's Andy Forsberg sits in third and is two points behind Statler and three behind Allard. Allard is the only driver with a main event win in the top three, however, Statler has finished in the top five all four nights of racing and is the only driver to accomplish that this season. Behind the top three there is a cluster tied for fourth. Grass Valley's Brad Sweet, Chico's Robbie Whitchurch and Oroville's Sean Becker each are tied with 172 points. Becker is the driver on a role. He has won the last two main events at Chico and looks to continue his streak this weekend.

Grass Valley drivers continue to show the way in the wingless spec sprint division. Billy Wallace holds an eleven-point lead over Jay Youngman. Brandon Davis holds down the third spot. Tracey driver Matt Streeter is in the fourth spot. Browns Valley driver Cody Myers rounds out the top five. Marysville driver Charlie Marrs holds the 14th spot in the points but earned the main event win last Friday night. He drives the Joe Hunt Magneto #7. SCRA 360S RETURN TO KINGS SPEEDWAY
by Dan Fleischer

One down, two-to-go. That's what's on tap for SCRA's 360 wingless Sprint cars when they return to Kings Speedway this Saturday (4/28) after last weekend thrilling event when crowd favorite Davey Pombo edged Peter Murphy in the 30-lap main event. After what's expected to be another barn-burner this weekend, SCRA will make it three consecutive weekends at the "The Place to Race" the following Saturday night, May 5th.

Murphy, the Australian native who resides in neighboring Clovis, is seeking revenge when he straps into his Tom Tarlton owned car. Murphy not only wants the victory, he is determined to pass Pombo in the season point standings and take over the top spot. He currently trails Pombo by a scant six points (215-209) after three events.

Not only do these two veterans have to fend off each other, they face strong competition from Rusty Carlile, who was very impressive last weekend. Carlile won his heat, the Dash and finished third in the main after a spirited battle with Garrett Ishii, Jeff Gardner and Dean Alexander. Carlile was last year's runner-up in the point standings behind Jonathan Logan, who has yet to get "untracked" in 2007 and is looking to get back into the fray.

The rookie contingency is headed by three 16-year-old phenoms. Justyne Hamblin, who has recorded two top-ten finishes and one quick qualifying time in three events, is battling Miles Bishop for top rookie honors. Bishop won the opening "tune-up" main event at Kings back in February and is looking to add to his laurels. Adam Frith-Smith, the third youngest, impressed veterans last Saturday with his improved driving style after an unfortunate crash in the season-opening event.

Alexander, Ishii and Gardner will return for more racing action as will Richard Harvey Jr., Kevin Barnes, Dave Knott, Matt Day, Brian Schuler and Jimmy Riddell. They're all looking forward to gathering some of the hardware and upsetting the current point leaders.

For further details on SCRA, call Richard Harvey Sr. at 559/582-8816.
