My opinion is GSC is a good format for entertainment. They put on a show. The dash is for the fans. Sorry. Always 8? I like the luck of the draw type format myself.
GSC is heading in a great direction. I for one am gonna enjoy the ride!

I really like the idea of the "back row challenge" for extra points & money. One thing I really liked that CRA did back in the early 90s (Griffin, Shuman, McSpadden days) was the 4 car dash at the start of the night that was the top 4 from the previous race. Kind of a nice touch to carry over from one race to the next. I would like to see GSC try some ASCS draw format shows. I think next year should be an "experimental" type season where they try a lot of different ideas and formats and see what works and what doesn't. I was at the last race of the season at Placerville and thought the intermission autograph session where the drivers came into the stands was a good idea.

Sprint car racing is not a sport. It is an entertainment business. Fans go to the races to see someone running better than the competition. Passing is the thing that gets the reactions from the grand stands.
Winners coming from the front row don't entertain until the leaders are in lap traffic.
My perception from what I have seen and heard is, Dan's objective, with what ever it takes, is to put the entertainment back into racing, cut the cost, increase payout & point fund, plus increase the safety.
There hasn't been anyone else step up with such lofty goals. I for one applaud his intentions and hope everyone will support his efforts.

I'm guessing he will have a meeting with owners and hopefully it is soon.
A good time would be after the Trophy Cup.
Yes, it will be interesting and exciting to see what he proposes. He didn't get where he is in life, from a financial standpoint, by being a dummy.

There has already been a meeting with the teams at Dan's shop. He has his own 1/4 mile track that just
about duplicates chico. They had a BBQ there at the end of August and did some brain storming.
Discussion and planning are underway. He has brought in full time people to make it work; including a
weekly TV show. I wish he had done this 10 years ago. I would have loved to be involved. Alas, I retired 4 years ago but I still love the sprinters. Look for good things from GSC . . . . Let's hope "the good old days" can be revived! A format that makes it necessary to race hard every lap verses riding along in a transfer spot.
