According to car owner Mark Alexander a decision will be made by Monday afternoon concerning Calistoga. There are a few team members that will be unable to make the trip due to family commitments - one being Steve Alexander. The team and Tony were very happy with the performance of the new Spike chasis on Saturday night. Jones went from 12th starting to finish third in the main event. Great night of open wheel racing as always at the PAS.

... with all the racing going on this labor day weekend, and racing not a priority for others.
We will be lucky to get 20 non wing's up at Calistoga.
I remember not to long ago when people wished there was non wing's back at Calistoga.
I hope this isn't the last chance.

I would guess between 30-35 traditional race cars this weekend. Ballou, Gardner and Windom all have rides with norcal owners for the weekend.

How many Midgets? They were a little short last year.

...that would be a good weekend.
..then again you only had 26 cars at the PAS last week, and there's a lot to choose from this week end.
.cars will be spread thin all over unfortunately.
hope everybody has a safe weekend.

The past couple of years the midget field has been a little short on entries, hopefully with the new midget group in Norcal this year that figure will increase. I know Jake Swanson will be there. Good luck Jake!

Too bad about TJ. I thought they had a car-wash or something to fund the trip. If I lived in LA area I'd be up here in a flash. Calistoga is a very nice part of the world. If they have 30-35 sprint cars and 20 or so midgets that's a reasonable car count considering things. Calistoga is the only norcal race I go to and I live up here. Personally, I don't think a lot of the nor-cal week-enders have the nads to run the big half. In the old days NARC ran outstanding races and anyone who was anyone came. ahhh...the good old days.

I've been to the first two years of non-wing races at Calistoga and the racing has been great. The car counts have been decent, not huge, but they aren't helped by the fact that the race is a week before Gold Cup. Most Nor-Cal guys are wing racers and the Gold Cup is the biggest race of the year for most of them. The economy sucking has hurt a lot of guys, too, and with the new Outlaw rules of having to run Goodyears (which Nor Cal teams don't run) and having to race all 3 nights at Chico will stretch funds even thinner. Read Bobby Gerould's article on his website for a great perspective on what it will take to run all 3 nights of Gold Cup. Still, there will be more than enough good cars and drivers at Calistoga on Saturday and Sunday that no one will really miss anyone who isn't there.
