Those of us that frequent the ABC Arizona board are probably already aware that Robby has pulled the plug on it. I, for one, will really miss it as it was my first stop every day. Even though (perhaps especially because) I don't get a lot of opportunities to get out and about (since I'm so broke these days that I can't pay attention!) I really relied on the board to keep me abreast of what's going on in the Az open wheel racing scene. It's been my only source of gossip, results, and a good window into the various personalities involved in our little world. I did email Robby and basically beg him to reconsider but apparently he feels that he's been getting too much abuse and grief and felt that he just needed to pull the plug. While I can respect his personal feelings on the subject I appealed to his reason and logic in that this was a public forum and there were indeed quite a few people who have come to rely on this as our own little watering hole and I was hoping that he can look at it from our point of view. All I can say is that I hope we can come up with something to fill that void in our little special corner of the world.

"gossip" and "personalities" are some of the reasons he didn't want to deal with it anymore, just my opinion

You know, I've seen this kind of stuff on a lot of boards that I frequent and I'm gonna ask y'all what I asked Robby. As the moderator of the board if somebody just plain doesn't like you or your opinons and voices such on the board, who the heck cares?? Like I told him, it's not like someone's standing there invading his personal space giving him grief. If you don't like what the guy's saying, don't read it, delete it or just plain ignore it. Personal stuff is personal stuff but when you go public with a board it's not just you anymore. What we end up with here is kinda like the kid at the neighborhood baseball game who gets mad and decides to take his ball and bat home and leaves the others stranded high and dry. Sucks to be us I guess!

How about this Tedrichard.......

I got back from the doctor just about an hour ago, read your e-mail and wrote you back as soon as I could. I can see you couldn't wait, so;

Let's talk some smack on this board about YOU.

I give YOU the ball, and it's your game. We will meet back here in a couple of months and we can smear crap all over here about how YOU handled the job. We can pick apart and analyze YOUR performance. We can exploit YOU for a while. What do you really know? Let's get some anger directed at YOU here.

My offer still stands. The contract on the board is through November. You won't have to pay any money except for when it goes over the contracted hits, or when people post pictures. All you have to do is put your credit card number on the account. Put your money where your keyboard is. This is a classic example of precisely why I don't want to pay out good money so that people like YOU can speak your opinion.

Nope, what you ended up with is a grown man who had every good intention and hope of keeping the racing community informed and entertained and all he got from it was complaints, accusations, inults and a monthly bill for his trouble. Most of the people who have called him personally to ask about why the board is down have said they don't blame him. So far, I have not heard of anyone who complimented him on how much work and effort he has put in. So Ted...start your own message board and try to get people to send you updates on what's going on in racing or scour other sites and cut and paste their info when the local people don't bother to send you any info and then you can moderate and have someone daily or sometimes hourly insult you and see how long you can just "ignore" it before it gets to you. Hope you have tough enough skin to take it. Then when you finally say "uncle, I'm just not having enough fun to tolerate this any more", we will get on another message board and call you a poor sport.

I would personally like to Thank Robbie for the years we had the ABC Forums. It was (most of the time) my only way to keep up with what was happening in the world of Open Wheel Dirt Track racing in AZ. Sorry to see the ABC forums go but totally understand why.

Thank You Robbie!

Well, I sure stepped onto a hornets nest here, didn't I??? I certainly never intended to make this sound like a personal insult to Robby and I sincerely apologize if it did look that way. This is indeed an education as to the kind of stuff that goes on with message boards and internet communication in general. I had emailed Robby a couple of days ago basicly asking what happened and I did get a short reply <<<<<I Just got tired of dealing with it. People were abusing it, and It got to the point where I just couldn’t see having it anymore. At first I thought it would be a good thing, but it turned into a disaster. Finally when people started to attack me again, I just shut it down.>>>>>>

This was the point where I posted the message above on this board. When I came back from lunch this morning there was a message from Robby that went in to much more detail on what has been going on and it did indeed make me understand much better what brought him to the point where he felt he needed to bail. It was NEVER my intention to maline Robby. I was simply stating that it's just too damned bad that it got to this point and there are indeed people who will really miss it. Just in case I haven't already made it clear enough, I DID NOT MEAN ANY DISRESPECT TO ROBBY AND I APOLOGIZE IF IT LOOKED THAT WAY.

Well.....at least Ted had the gumption to appologize......should've given some thought on his 2nd post before hittin' the enter button......

Again, Thanks for all your efforts Robbie. I'm really gonna miss your mildly bent sence of humor, it was always good for a grin.
