This will be my first Gold Cup. I want to bring my RV (that's a recreational vehicle, Clark). Just wondring if anyone can give me an idea of the camping situation at the track. Does it fill up? Earlier the better? I understand there are no electrical hook-ups, is that correct? Thank you in advance for any input.

I believe it is first come , first served for camping spots ,but you better get there early.Campground opens Mon. before the race I think, at least it used to.People will lined up up out to the road on Mon. morning. A call to the track would be a good idea. Many of the spots have electrical hook-ups , and showers are available.

Thanks Leon, just wish I was stillll there to help people but son decided differently. Oh well, life goes on and we live and learn.. I will see what i can find out from the man that handles camping. Biatch in the officc probably won't help...I will post again, when I find out something.

There are tons of sites, problem is there are tons of fans, RV's, Tents & whatnots to fill them and believe me I have never seen it not fill up. 1st come 1st served starting Monday morning, like previously stated there will be a line of campers from the pit gate all the way out to the track entrance. I would get there as early as possible & bring a good book! Best spots are the row right outside the pit entrance ( ELEC. & Water) There are lots of other sites with access to electricity & water but you may have to get creative. My fam has been goin for as long as I can remember & never get any guff for the creative ways we have found to get electric & water to the trailer, we usually camp in the big grass field outside of turn one ( the closer you get to the fence that separates the grounds from the street the better the view from a lawn chair on top of the RV!). If you like to turn in early avoid any sites arround the pevillion, that area provides the best light for late night partying & on Friday after the races it is pretty much a madhouse in that area for the chili feed & bikini contest. Hope this helps!!

I'd call the track office and inquire about camping; I remember that some of the spots were sold/reserved prior to the Gold Cup, although I could be wrong.....

Here's the contact information...

I can remember a few years back when they ran the FRI/SAT/SUN at Calistoga some people would pack up on Sunday afternoon and as soon as the race was over head for their "rv" and take off for Chico.

I have my fingers crossed about the Gold Cup that they can get a decent number of cars to turn out. I don't think it will even be close to what it was just a few years ago.

We shall see.

My boy won the Gold Cup in '04. What about your boy? I just got back from the greatest race of them all, the Nationals. I have my reasons why I don't go to Watsonville and I don't care to share them with everyone. The Outlaws aren't shit, eh??? Lol!

Yep.....and I've been to the Nationals 7 times and I will be there next yr. as well. 2004.... that was a joke! Kinda like u kept stating how Shaffer won with Shatz and Swindell having problems if I'm correct. Shatz was handed that one in 04, but let's not forget short-term memory loss. I'll see ya there....I guess?
