Seems like there is something for everyone to complain about this year at Knoxville. I was there for the 9th year in a row and saw the best 4 days of racing ever. Even the first two races of the Saturday afternoon show and the World challenge were good for daytime. Saw a few tire failures, (4 or 5 i can remember off the top of my head) but nothing to make me think the tire ruined anything!! The racing was great, all week. Thursday night was so stacked, the A main looked like Saturday night, with better racing than a normal saturday night. The A main on Sat. night was the best i have seen and some that i talked to say it was the 2nd best in 50 years. (1990 being the best-i am told) Where do we get off with all of the complaints? I was pulling for Sammie to win it, but lets face it, he burned his tires to the ground like he has done 6 or 7 times already this year. As for engine failures, they happened anywhere from lap 5 to lap 30, the normal distance for past A mains---very little to do with the 50 lapper. The red flag stop at lap 25---very short lived, we all lived through it, and the 25 laps following were fantastic. I bet i talked with 100 people after the race and none had anything bad to say about it. I would say the majority of the changes are here to stay and if you have any complaints, you are the minority in these arguments.
One foot note: in the last 9 years I have been going to the races, the crowd stands for the first 5-10 laps of the A-main. So yelling "sit down!" from two rows behind me won't help. i will sit when the couple of rows in front of me sits. I am not going to sit and miss the show so your lazy as5 gets to see. Like i told the woman behind me a couple of years ago, buy a seat on the front row. then you wont have to complain. two people behind us actually left and went home because our row was standing up. we were not standing for fun, we couldnt see with the rest of the section standing. they left after 2 laps of the A-main!!!!!! Bet theyre a riot to party with!!
