Lasoski's first in '98 was the one night I wouldn't trade for any other.

'98 was a heck of a race.. I was just a little tike in the stands at the time but I remember it clear as day.
Seems like there is some similarity about '98 and '10........ hmm??

1990, was the best I think. Scruffy winning, beating Sammy made it that much better. It was 30 laps!!!!!!!! I don't like it longer than 30 laps, didn't like it last year and didn't like the 50 lapper this year. Knoxville Nationals is tradition and should stay 30 laps. Has been a lot of good Nationals, 1977 Wolfie's first. and 1978 as well, Wolfie winning with no brakes and Kinser right on his gas tank 2nd. That was before the wings and in 77 before the outlaws. 75 and 76 the 2 years that Eddie Leavit won was good too. The years before the wings and the outlaws, I liked better than with the wings and the outlaws.

1990 was the only one I've missed in the last 30. I picked a hell of a time to be out of state,eh. I have seen video and that was a classic. Sammy and Scruffy couldn't be more different and thats what made it great.
Dudes first was incredible because the fans went absoutely crazy. Everyone knew Dude lived for this race, it was his hometrack, he'd recovered from cancer, and at the time he was not expected to win. The fans reaction is what made that one the best for me. They wanted him to win it as much as he did. remember him throwing t-shirts out the back of the trailer?
This was definately a close 2nd for me in person. What were the odds for Tim Shaffer? Great driver but not one of the top 10 favored to win. Also at the track the broke his back a few years ago in an ugly crash. Great weekend start to finish. Maybe the best Wednesday - Saturday.
