Don't waste your time. They don't pay or return phone calls when trying collect winnings.

Eric, please e-mail me with the date and finishing position you failed to get a check for...I don't work for the track, but I live up here and will try to help fix this...us sprint car drivers need to stick together .Victorville Raceway is a family operation ,they work full time jobs and possibly they got overwelmed..people makes mistakes...a lot of the same racers race there regularly-they seem to get paid or they wouldn't come back ,so I don't think it's an ongoing thing..somebody just dropped the ball..Dan

July 10. 5th place finish. I know of one other owner that has had the same issue. After a couple phone calls he finally got paid for 2 races, July 10 and a prior race which I am not sure the date. If they are too busy to pay the car owners, they should pay at the end of the night. At the very least they should return a phone call, after all, they are operating a business and should be professional. I know if I did not return phone calls, I would go out of business.

Hey..I'm on board-wish all tracks would go back to paying cash at the end of the night...never understood why they wanted to haul that nasty pile of money to the bank just to send out checks of say a month later.Well i'll see what i can do ..if they have a question ,I'll try to get them to e-mail you,so we can clear this up... sorry if you won't come on the 5th,if you had that 360 up to 5th place run against 410,you could easily win the open comp 360 race

The good old days of cash at the end of the night are largely gone due to the business factor. It is just good business to pay your expenses by check. Pay a bunch of cash these days and the IRS is on your rear end snooping around. That could end up being bad for the racer as well. If the IRS got on the promoter, he would have to supply the list of where the cash was paid. The IRS would then be looking into the people who got the cash.

Another factor is scoring errors or disqualifications. Ever try to get cash back from a racer or owner a week when a scoring error was found? I remember a race when I was working for the USRC Midgets at Santa Maria in the late 1970s. Main event was 25 laps. Scorers or officials got messed up and the white flag flew at the end of lap 25 instead of lap 24. Roger Mears was leading the main event at the end of lap 25. Larry Patton passed him on the extra lap and took the checkered flag. Patton got the trophy, winners interview and the first place cash at the end of the night. Next night at Bakersfield, officials told Patton of the mistake they made and that Mears actually won. Patton went gladly gave the trophy back, but told them he would not give the first place money back. USRC had to dig into its pocket to give Roger his share of the winners money.

I appreciate your kind words, but that was a 410 that night. Unfortunately my car was destroyed at Perris the following weekend in that incident with RJ Johnson. My racing days are over unless I am offered a ride.
