Hello All!
I do not wish to start another thread about the 3 and the 14. I would simply like to know the exact text of the rule book with regard to weighing cars following the completion of a feature race at the Knoxville nationals. Could someone please provide this information?
Thank You,
Joe

i do not know the exact wording but i am sure it would say
the top x number of cars in the a feature must proceed to the scales to get weighed in right ater the the race, the car must not go to their pit stall, if the car and driver goes to their pit stall before crossing the scale the driver will be dq'd
that is what i always heard in any pit meeting i have attended. so i would say it is pretty black and white you must cross the scale before proceeding to your pit or to victory lane, not much gray area concerning this at all. like i said i do not have the rule book but am just going by pit meetings.
while watching a weekly knoxville show on the internet the top cars come off of the track in turn 4 and go right across the scale.

Heat races, C & B it is the cars which will transfer.
A...it is "usually" the top 5.

WEIGHT RULE – Weight rule for the 410 class is 1375 lbs., including the driver, at the conclusion of the race. Cars not making weight will be penalized to last in that event.

You would think for the biggest sprint car race on the planet, you would weigh them all? Is it fair to the 7th place guy if the 6th place guy was light?

All that I saw in the rules was the following: "Cars not making weight will be penalized to last in that event".
I may have missed it, but I didn't see where it said they couldn't go to the pits first.

Some simple common sense here folks.....Which mean that the top finishers proceed immediately to the scales upon exiting the track and before entering their pit stall. This is due to the fact that a crew member could alter the car in some way......such as adding fuel or wieght.

I understand this. I'm not saying that he shouldn't have been disgualified, I'm just stating what I read in the rules, which is what the origional posted asked. It didn't ask for my opinion, if I thought he should be disqualified or not, and I didn't give it.
Maybe it's stated in the same section with the rule that allowed Kraig Kinser to push off after the pace truck was in the pits.

It does not matter where the pace truck is on the track. It does matter where the lead car is in relation to the start of the race. If the car can be pushed off safely before the start/restart they will allow them to go. I've been going to knoxville for over 25 years and it's always been that way.

Plus it would really make you feel bad if you went to your pit stall and one of the top cars weighed in light. I would think common sense would send me to the scales.

I've been going for over 35 years and you are wrong. That is not how it's always been.
Once the pace truck is in the pits, they can't push off.
If the car and driver are ready and the officials hold them until the cars get by , yes, they let him go.

What's the rule for wanting to know the rules. Will it make you feel better. Call was made, that's what they get paid to do. Do you actually think they would have dq'd him if it wasn't the rule?

I saw last night that Shatz put on a Hoosier so he go across the scales last night after finishing 5th. I know for a fact that the hoosier tires weigh more than goodyears. I bet he did not weight enough.
Should he not be DQ?
Ok...maybe I made this all up, but its no worse than some of the other stupid postings.

The 3 never passed over the scale and he took the 14s place. You said top 5 must scale?
