I believe he stated on Racinboys.com a few weeks ago that since he is not in the points race for the ASCoT title, he will not follow them to the great NW and other far away tracks. He has had a rough year on the national tour and is not in the tow money or points race. I don't believe there are any hard feelings between he and the ASCS. He ran a couple of All-Star races in the Thunder Through the Plains schedule but that is all.

I'm with you on the "confused" part of the equation.
He used his ASCS provisionals up really quickly... it would be scary to travel a couple thousand miles to the NW and have no guaranteed starting spot or tow money.
Of course... they had enough $$$ to run All Stars races in SOUTH DAKOTA (which isn't just "down the street" from Hooks, TX).
He's my favorite... but the lack of info is sometimes "challenging".

I enjoy watching Gary Wright as much as anyone. It seems like he is doing a start and park with the All Stars which I can't understand. I'm sure there is a good reason, but I'm wondering why he hasn't been competitive with the All Stars.
Is he entered for tonights line-up at Knoxville?

from my understanding when gary wright made his way to run at beaumont he said he did not see the point in traveling so far and have a big car count and then drawing bad numbers to where you have to start in the middle or the back and not have a chance to make the a-main.now thats out of his own mouth.but the way i see it.is its the luck of the draw and every body will start in the middle or the back some time or another.but honestly i think the younger guys are getting faster and gary is running with the gulf south alot now.

I deffinatly think that not being as competitive as years pasts is frustrating cuz everybody is running the same technology & he doesn't have a dominating car like years past but to be the man you still gotta beat the man & untill he retires he'll be the man...keep on diggin GW

Well ...this isn't exactly generic to this thread .... but my favorite GW story is after a race one night a friend of mine was so taken back to be at the same QT counter as GW (paying for his 64 oz.'BIG' gulp) ... while idle chatting with his 'hero' my friend knocked his drink over ...spilling ALL 64 oz and the ice on the counter and mostly onto the clerk.
GW had knocked his front end off early in the feature parked it and called it a night.
Upon watching the above debacle unfold ...looked at my friend and in his classic GW east Texas drawl said:
'Ahh thought ahh was havin' a bad night ........
'til ahh met you.'

9 out of ten drivers on the ascs tour hate the format

Qualifed 17th tonight at Knoxville- Started 3rd in his heat and finished 5th.
Can't blame the ASCS format for that.

Or maybe success (or at the very least - making the A feature) is quite a bit easier at an All-Star show......
And actually - there aint much arguing that lol. In an All Star race outside Ohio - Wright could basically just avoid disaster and make the A Main.......
whereas in ASCS National shows with more quality in the field - not to mention the field is double the size of an All Star show..........well........quite a bit harder than the All Stars ain't it?
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

Comparing the ALL STARS to the ASCS is like comparing "rock" to real music!
TSA...It's not a GROPE...it's a Freedom Pat!
