So any news on Sammy to TSR today? Really didn't believe this when reported, but I also LMAO at Steve going to TSR.
And I realize this story having teeth right now doesn't make sense due to timing. Could be plenty of truth to the story, but an announcement at the World Finals would make more sense. Just curious if any more news is flying around Knoxville on this.
PS - Please desperately attempt to refrain from Mark Kinser or Andy Hillenburg comments regarding this rumor.

"I heard . . ." About three months ago some guy with three posts was getting his azz handed to him by people on here saying they were sick of "I heard" rumors.
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

I think Sammy's perceived lack of interest in running full time might be explained in some of his post-race comments lately.
He talked about having the right equipment that he needed. If he has an owner willing to write checks and let him do his own thing with his own choice of equipment... racing might just be fun again to him. I think sacrificing choices and running what the owner has vs. what you want isn't fun for him.
Give Sammy a deep-pocketed owner that doesn't say "NO" very often and cut him loose. Good things will happen.
I always thought of Sides running a Steve Kinser racing car made sense. Sides & SK racing in a partnership makes a lot of sense. Sides has some nice sponsors (doubt the $$$ is on Bass Pro Shops or Budweiser levels)... bring them to my proposed partnership.
I would have put Sides in the 11k... but my son wasn't in need of a ride. He did what any father would do.
It's a shame Doug Wolfgang is retired... because I don't think they could print enough "TSR RACING: Sammy Swindell, Steve Kinser and Doug Wolfgang" shirts. Hey, I'd be thrilled to have 2 of the big 3 as teammates. All three on a team? If anyone could do it... Tony Stewart would be the man.

I think you're dead on with everything you just said. If "The Wolf" was still out there, on a team with Sammy & Kinser, I think my head would explode!!! I'm pretty sure "The Big 3" will never be matched. A lot of people are quick to point to the gap in WoO championships won, between Kinser and Swindell, but alot of them forget that Sammy didn't run full schedules in very many of those years, and I'm curious as to how many he's actually ran all the way through. Does anybody out there know??
I'm posting this over a month after your original post, so I know that the TSR thing with Swindell isn't gonna happen, but man, that'd still be a neat deal! Take care.

What series have you been watching? And don't tell me about how many points "Double Down" has either, because Sammy didn't start running until McCarl got hurt, and even after that he's only been running about 75% of the races

I think what CUBIC is saying is that with the resources that Sides has that he is just as fast as the teams with all the big money funding. Sides has won 5-7 races this year all ready and is 5 in points. I do not think anyone has to tell you about points its all fact go take a look at it.

The Slammer is not really known as a slick track specialist and look what kind of drivers normally win the WoO championship. Karma is also a bitch, to some extent you make your own luck....good or bad.
Sides already turned Stewart down once however. And I think Sammy would be a perfect addition to TSR. He and Stewart are almost kindred spirits. I hope he does it. Everyone would love to see a Steve and Sammy team. TSR might be known as the WoO's retirement home however....lol.

At the beginning of this year. Although he was grateful to be considered, Sides respectfully declined. It just wasn't the correct time. I would hope that it would lead to more recognition by corporate America in snagging and supporting this guy. He is respected by his peers as well as fans, whether they are at the track or not.... and the fact that he's won four of these races this very competitive year can't hurt either.
Jason will get his opportunity one of these days to put the some of the day to day bustle of running the team behind him and drive. He's a hands on guy.

What happened to the rumor that he was going to Roush Racing to team with his son, with Kenseth and Biffle out the door?

Hey-I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Sides is having a hell of a year, and I'm happy for DDJS. He's come a long way from his early years with the WoO! You & Cubic are also right about the lack of resources that he's had to overcome. My take about the points was that you can't compare Sammy & Sides straight up on points because Sides has run the full schedule and Sammy obviously has not. Plus Swindell had to jump into this ride for basically the first time (I know he filled in for an injured McCarl a couple years ago, but come on, that was for like a month!), and Sides has been in the same car for what 8 years? Oh yeah, and maybe YOU should take a look at the point standings, your figure of 5-7 races won by Sides is a little off-he's won 4-and Sammy's WAY BEHIND with 3 wins-running half as many races. Do the math. Take care
