This could be for either 360 or 410s but say you are to qualify on the first night, and can't make it and go to the 2nd night is there any penalty for this? last for time trials perhaps?

It depends on the reason that you can't make qualifying; if you're at the track and set for qualifying, but do not run, you get last place qualifying points for that night. And since you do not race in the heat or the C or B mains, last place points again. Which pretty much seals your fate for the week...

Teams have switched qualifying nights in the past, but I cannot ever recall a car scratching from one night's show to run the next night. Even a big name. like Steve Kinser, had to race a completely different car/number on the second night of qualifying(owned by Bob Trostle) back in 1980, when his car crashed/quit on his original qualifying night.
