I just looked at the extended forecast for next week. It shows the heat index at 100 and above with a chance of strong thunderstorms Wednesday through Saturday. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but we better start praying. You might want to ask for Monday as another vacation day so you can stick around on Sunday night to watch the A main.

Don't believe any forecast beyond 3 days. I have looked at the extended forecast for Knoxville for the last 10 years and just about every year it was waaaaaaaay off as far as precipitation is concerned.
I work in the media and the extended forecast is just something that consultants have been telling us that viewers/listeners want. Forecasters aren't particularly fond of it because it is such a crap shoot most of the time.
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

Silly boy, they just put the rain tires on like that "foreign" series.
Personally, I think the NATIONALS should be moved to PA so the Posse could finally have a winner!

the fact they are calling for rain right now is great. 10 forecasts are always the opposite, so should be a clear 4 days!!!!!

i checked the "forecast" (or guess as i like to call it) and there are three conflicting forecasts put out by three different websites. one has a 30 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms on wednesday and wednesday night and a 60 percent chance of a thunderstorm on saturday morning. one has a chance of rain thursday morning and a chance of a thunderstorm on saturday morning. and one has no rain in the forecast at all. i would be great with any one of those, because i dont think it would washout any of the nights. however, it is still way too far off to be looking at it. i only looked because someone brought it up. i would say on monday we will have a pretty good idea what it is going to do wednesday and by tuesday we will have a pretty good idea of what it is going to do on thursday. beyond that, we will have to wait and see. was almost no chance of rain for wednesday night as of wednesday morning last year and we got a couple of inches right at show time. they didnt even know 10 hours ahead of time. best way to know if it going to rain any of the nights is to sit there and see if it rains or not!!

That storm last year was the freakiest damn thing I'd seen in a long time. It popped up just southeast of Des Moines where we were coming into the track from, we ran into it on Hwy 163, then got through it. Then made it to the track where the dirty bastard turned south into K-Ville and sat on us for a good 45 minutes.
As I was waiting under the stands for it to break, I looked at the radar on my Blackberry and it was the only rain cell in a three state area! And it was no bigger than the town of K-Ville.
I knew we were in for a long weekend when that happened.
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

I live in Knoxville and am a mail carrier here so I watch the weather closely. They put up forecasts showing rain or snow for 10 days and then as the day draws near, they modify it. They might have some rain, they might not. It will probably change two or three times by next week. Just go ahead with plans and see what happens. I certainly wouldn't get too concerned at this point. If traveling very far, I would leave that Sunday open and plan on returning on Monday. I always did that when I was flying in before I moved here.
My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

I will share with you what my nephew has always said. It never rains in Knoxville in the summertime. lol. Good luck predicting the weather, from minute too minute, let alone a week away.

I live 20 minutes from the track and we've been AVERAGING 3 inches of rain a week for the last 6-8 weeks. Lets hope this trend doesn't continue.

I hate sweat, but rain is worse. Just keep the rain away.
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.
