nothing this year. im very surprised that it isnt live. i guess knoxville doesnt want to pay for speed to be there live after the recent rainouts and losing money to speed. plus they want you to buy a ticket and spend your money there.

Tape delayed saves them a live satellite time buy and no need for a satellite uplink truck at the track. Fans at the track benefit from no delays (or rush) to hit an airtime window for the A main and they get to see the show at home when it airs. Fans at home will have to be satisfied with live internet radio...

This race not being live on TV speaks volumes. I guess sprint car racing is still trying to break through barriers? The superbowl of any league should be live for fans around the globe to enjoy and grow with.

ok so it will all be aired on a tape delay - that sucks badly but anyone notice that it will be aired on a f-n saturday? WTF???? lol what a group of idiots. Lets - sit at home and watch racing - or actually get out and GO to a nearby track? They tape delay it - just to air it on a day when 80% of dirt tracks run......
f-n ratards. Wouldnt EVERYONE rather them air it on a weekday in the evening - or maybe even a sunday? Why tape delay dirt track races just to air them when your ass should actually BE AT A LOCAL TRACK???
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a

Amazing... twenty year ago we were happy to see sprints on a show called "American Sports Cavalcade"' those shows were two to three months old. Yes, I know that some shows have been live recently, but, IMO, any sprint cars on TV is better than none.
I'll choose to NOT bit** about Knoxville on TV, just watch it when it airs........

I see that Knoxville has been streaming races on it's website for a fee lately. Are they going to be doing this for the Nationals too? I saw dates scheduled for the Wednesday-Friday show at $19.95 a piece but nothing for Saturday.
Might be worth the $40 to watch it online if the coverage is good for Wednesday and Thursday.

I don't know if you can read this because I am trying to use real words but I will give it a try.
They built stands that hold 25,000 people and a ticket can be bought so you can see it live if you want to. Good idea right . Stay at homers do not help pay a 1,000,000 purse. You can not put this on for nothing and something has to pay for it. They do this buy selling tickets,
Read you own post and it will tell you it is a go to sport not a sit at home and watch on TV.

I have always said that live TV has done nothing for the knoxville track, and I also agree that showing a race on saturday night is very bad business practice for speed, but I like many others will have the tivo going which most likely registers as a viewer to them and their marketing department, think also the interent broadcast is not a good thing, for them business wise also

IMO, I think it's the best decision that's been made in quite some time. Until Live TV came into the fold, it was "sold out" for Saturday night year after year after year.
Once live TV started, ticket requests went down immediately (no more waiting list for Saturday Night tickets) because everyone knew they could stay home and watch it on thier couch instead of actually attending.
I think the tape delay is OK, because those that truely "can't" attend will either Tivo, DVR or Record it when it does air and only those that used to attend (or still do, but only Wednesday and Thursday) will bi%$H and moan about it not being on Live TV because now they actually might have to go on Saturday Night instead of sitting in thier camper (or already gone home).
As a FAN who actually ATTENDS, I think it's great that it went back to Tape Delay, as now we can go back to the pageantry, speed up the show if weather is a factor (who remembers waiting an hour between the B and A main a few years ago only to get the "No 4 wide salute as there is weather moving into the area" over the PA just before they dropped the green), and enjoy Saturday night again (prior to Live TV, Saturday night took the checker around 10:30 instead of midnight).
1 more day and the 10 day Speedweek begins....

Cool No Live TV, No more scheduling the night around commercials & deadlines. But the big question is now!!! Do we get our Wet T-Shirt Contest back! The WTC went away when the live TV came to keep it G-Rated. I say bring back the water hose and the funbags for the 50th :-)

Ouch nice stab... I've been going to the nats since 88, missed a couple but have been able to make most and will be there again this year. I agree with your point, just would like to see the sport grow and think live tv would help.

Put it on ppv online or satelite, not everyone can go to the nationals every year. Especially do it since it is the 50th. I would pay 40 to watch it on there website.

i agree with you. while the attendance has been down a bit, if sprint car racing is going to expand, it cant go backwards. it has gone backwards if i could be seen live the last few years and now for the 50th it will be tape delayed. i will be there and honestly I liked the atmosphere at the track knowing it was on live. i thought it was big for the sport and i thought it would open up other events for live broadcast. eventually, you add fan base and refill the stands (in a perfect world-maybe I'm wrong.)
i hope in the future they take this into consideration. i live in a sprint car dead zone and seeing sprint car racing is very, very tough. i cherish the trip to knoxville, but wish i could see more racing on tv, live or not.
