Greg and Dorothy, Travis' Mom and Dad, are on their way to Dallas/Ft.Worth area to see Travis and be at the racetrack this weekend, meeting fans and selling Travis Rilat Race for Recovery t-shirts. They will be at Cowtown, so stop by and say hello and get an update first hand. I do not think that Travis will be there in person, he still has a few open wounds and needs to stay away from crowds, the risks for infections are still a concern and his health is top priority right now. I know that he wants to be there, and would not be surprised if he tried to show up....but his family will be there, so stop by and say hello. I will not be there and am already missing visiting with all the race fans......you guys are awesome!!!!

Travis and his family were indeed in attendance at Cowtown!!!! Great to see him, and that constant, infectious smile. Spoke briefly with him up in the pit stands, in great spirits and happy to see all. Travis and his family should be an inspriration to all who are facing some tough challenges.......hope to see ya at Bowl next week TSR.

Greg and Dorothy returned from a weekend of sprints and the best part is that Travis indeed went to the races. He visited with fans and drivers and had a great time. He tires very easy still, but loved being out at the track. I am so glad that many of you had the opportunity to talk to him and support him. Race fans and the race community have been essential in his recovery. Thank you to everyone for your support and am so grateful to all of you. I am not at the track, as Saturday's have me at school until mid November, and miss meeting and thanking all of you. Hope to see you all soon----and thank you again, I can not tell you how important your support has been for Travis!!!

Okay. it's already been out there --- the news is out! The #29 car will be hitting the dirt and running hard. Travis will not be driving yet, but he has selected someone, in his words.."he will stand on it and do whatever he's gotta do to win it...and that's Tim Kaeding!" That's right, Tim Kaeding of California will be tearing up the track in the #29 car! Sounds like the kinda of guy that has been behind the wheel of the car before! Travis and his team have been anxious to get the car out and on the track and it will be back, and race fans....Travis will be there too! Go Team Travis! and thanks to Tim for joining our team!

Sprint car drivers are some of the few that have the ability to come back OK from these injuries. If you have the guts to drive one of these dangerous beasts, it stands to reason you'd bust your tail recooperating to get back in one someday. Good to see Ron Hornaday give his best to Shane Hmiel in winners circle yesterday.

It's gonna be great to see the #29 occupying the majority of the time in victory lane this weekend at STN in Little Rock. Brother Tim, you be sure and keep that seat warm for Travis, you hear? And Travis, God bless every fiber of your healing body as you prepare for victory in your recovery, your race team and your awesome family now that you're all there together.

I know that Tim is really excited to be in the 29 car this weekend and is really hoping to make Travis proud. They have been in pretty much constant contact in the past few months and have really strengthened there friendship....................Take Care Travis and Gas Yer Up TK

Are you as excited as I am?! I wish I were there to experience it all first hand---but I have to go to classes this weekend and got some major assignments due....okay guys, everyone will have to take up the slack and do some serious rootin' for me. If you have never seen me at the races, just ask Greg or Dorothy----you gotta help em drive even if you're in the stands! Give 'em a run for their money #29!!!
Again, thank you to everyone for all their support ---- it truly has made a difference!!

TK brought the #29 home in 2nd in his Qualifier. Danny Wood won it. So the 29 is qualified into the Feature tonight.

It sounds like it was a great time in Little Rock and Tim made us all proud. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing the #29 car slinging dirt and running hard! I just wish that Travis could have been there too. He just wasn't feeling well and thought it best to stay home and work some more on healing. He will be out there with his car soon, that I know!!!

I just talked to Travis---he said he is WONDERFUL! Today he picked up his baby girl from the daycare all by himself--he drove, carried her to the car and loaded her in her car seat! Oh, the little things of normal life that give one such joy! He said that the burns around his waist are all closed and healing and his legs on doing much better, won't be long till those wounds are also closed! And he was happy to announce that movement in his arms is so much better that he actually touched his right thumb on top of his head! Now he can scratch his own head in wonder over the miracles of life and healing!! Awesome news and thanks to all of you for your support and prayers. Praise God for healing and the love of people like you! Thank you, thank you. Travis is doing well, and I want you all to know that you have been instrumental in his speedy recovery! I am truly grateful for all your support.

I can not tell you how exciting this is for the family-----father and son as a racing team----supporting each other----all I can say is Rilat racing is what this family is made of, and I am proud to say that I am a Rilatracerchaser, so what if I am his sister and aunt!!! I am proud of my boys! Wish I was there to see it for myself---okay fans cheer 'em on for me!

I only got to watch the video clips from Cowtown, but it looked like a great night of racing! I thought the ole' man Rilat did alright, but he said Travis fired him this morning---he expected a win! Tough crew chief huh? I think they had a good time and racing heals!

Got a text message photo today of Travis sitting in his sprint car! He was able to get in and the smile said it all!!! I guess he decided that the ole man, Greg, sat in it too long at Cowtown and wanted some seat time of his own. Boy, it looked good seeing him in that car!!!
ASCS Gulf South has its banquet this weekend--can't wait to see the group and celebrate the racing season of 2010!!

I pray there is a very special meal and some very special seats reserved for the Rilat's I talked to Travis Thursday and he is one proud Daddy! He is one tough training Hombre and he is ready to take up residence in Victory Lane next season. May the Racin Rilats have a great banquet and a highly productive off season ... heck , there IS no off season, is there? Many blessings!

We had a great time at the banquet! I talked with Travis right before and he wanted to thank everyone at the Gulf South for everything--told him I had it covered, I had already written a few words to say and then I realized it was not just for the Gulf South, but everyone, so I thought I should share it with you all here at Hoseheads. So here is what I read to those at the banquet, but it is for you too:
I just wanted to say a few word this evening----I know, I am never short on words, but I want to share with you what an incredible group of people you are. I do not know much about racing, sprint cars, engines, torsion bars, down force, or stagger, but I do know people, and the people of the ASCS and Gulf South are amazing! If you were to look up definitions for spring car racing you find terms like high powered cars, loud, exciting, quick, wings that produce down force, slide racing, engines that shake the dirt track, adrenalin on wheels, and the ride of your life. But, they have left out the most important part of spring car racing, that is the people involved in this sport. Drivers, crewmembers, sponsors, track owners, announcers, officials, friends, fans, and you Deith, Craig, and Debbie Johnson. You are what make ASCS and Gulf South exciting and powerful and have given me ---the "ride of my life." During our recent tragedy, I found a spirit unlike any other I have ever experienced. You embraced our family and carried us through/ For that I am grateful. I like racing, because I love my brother, and the woman that loves him, and that's not easy---yeah, you know what I am talking about! Tyson named him well with "Grumpy!" I now know why Greg loves racing--he loves the sport, but more than that, he loves the people...you...all of you that are here tonight, and all that are involved in this sport. Greg's dedication to his racing used to really tick me off!!! Yeah, he missed a lot of family events for his racing....dinners, and birthday celebrations, but he never missed a race, until this year when he was called away to Seattle to be with Travis---and I was so afraid that he would never return to racing. I made the events in his absence and stood strong for the family, until that one night on July 24th when Greg flew in from Seattle to Dallas and after much coaxing came to the Devil's Bowl for the races. He didn't want to see anyone because he was still too emotional. I remember running from the press box to the flag stand to collect the money from all you drivers after you had walked the grandstands and collected for Travis' recovery fund. I found myself surrounded by the sprint car drivers that were also emotional and I felt myself tumbling emotionally, and I know that I had to stay strong, Greg was there and he was already so emotional!---then, from the corner of my eye, I saw Greg approaching me and his fellow competitors from the infield---you were there, you know the emotions---you held each other tearful and emotional, comforting, and healing. And from that day forward, I now why my brother missed family events for his racing,....because you are family!----and for that I am most grateful! Thank you spring car family...you are incredible and more powerful than the cars on that dirt track. Thank you.
This Thanksgiving, the Rilat family gives thanks for our many things, you must know that you are one of those things that we are thankful for. Your support and prayers allows us to be thankful for Travis' recovery and for that we are thanking God and asking him to bless each of you. Thank you racing family!
