My top 3:

3. A picture of the United States with a big star and sprint car where Knoxville should be, and the caption: Real race fans know Knoxville is NOT in Tennessee. (Don't know how many times I've had people I know ask if I've taken my trip to Tennessee yet.)

2. 1992 Knoxville Nationals, Another Year of MUD, SWEAT, and BEERS. (Ironically, it was one of the few years it didn't rain.)

1. Weld/Weikert Racing. Had a snorting, pawing, about to charge bull with the caption: When the Green Flag Drops, the Bullshit Stops. (It was the first racing t-shirt I ever had. Bought probably in '72 or '73. for some reason my mom wouldn't let me wear it to school...lol.)

From drivers that didn't even make the D, E, F, etc.

They were so appreciative!

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. The year before Jason Meyers went out on the WoO tour filling in for Dollansky he came up here and ran the shows at Skagit and Grays Harbor. He led the first 25 at Skagit before a lapper took him out. He got two top 5's at Grays Harbor and after the Saturday night finale he had zero people at his trailer. Steve Kinser had about 500 and Shawna Wilskey had about 400. We went over to Jason's hauler and we each bought a T-shirt and he was so happy you would of thought he just won the A main. 15 minutes of shooting the breeze later, we left and have been Hot Foot fans ever since.

Kenny Gritz 25th Anniversary T-shirt, bought in 1994 (still one awesome car, and the BEST Race T-shirt I ever bought as it never faded over the 5 years I owned it (unfortunately, I gained some weight and it didn't fit anymore).

That's a tough one cause there have been so many.

Mine would have to be the first one I ever boought at the Nationals. It was Jac Haudenschild in the Casey Luna car when it caught fire near the finish. I htink that was the '92 Nationals.

Same thing as someone else said earlier, Kinser won, and around his car was a madhouse. No one was at Haud's car at the time. Went up bought a shirt and chatted with him for a few minutes. Wild Child fan ever since.

1975 Sprint Championships (aka Knoxville Nats) printed by Spider and sold right out of his truck on the fairgrounds.

He was sold out, and I remember handing him cash and he wrote my name and address on a brown paper wrapper. Sure enough, a couple weeks later a package arrived with the tshirt.

35 years later I still have it as a very prized possession.

Lee,

Do you sit in either section A or B at the Nats?

I see that shirt (or one very close to it) every Saturday of the Nationals. Very cool.

Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

Not I....

I do not understand how a t-shirt hanging in my closet has shrunk over time.... because I can no longer fit in it

An Eddie Leavitt shirt from the late 70's, or very early 80's. He's in a red #9 with Eddie Leavitt printed in the rainbow colors on front, size childrens small. Mom actually let me get "Eddie's the best, hell with the rest!" printed on back down at the old J's jeans. I took it to Nationals the last year or two Eddie was with us and had him sign it. "Holy S#!t" he said. I've still got it.

EXACTLY what I was going to say!!

Never wore mine, put it in a zip-lock, still in the drawer. Looks the same as the day I bought it!

2nd Fav.....maybe the first racing shirt I remember buying. Roger Rager, superman emblem with a big "R" instead of an "S". Sadly, I wore that one plum out, it's long gone.

I bought a haud shirt when he had the "Race to Hawaii" or something like that on there, has a sprint car and palm trees on there, looks pretty cool, very colorful.

And one of my all-time favorites (though I dont own one myself) that your almost guranteed to see every day of the nationals on multiple occasions, on numerous classy no-tooth rednecks, is the "When its wet, slide it in" t-shirt. It can be seen in a variety of fashions, including the sleeveless flaunting pit-hair look, or my personal favorite the bulging out beer gut over the cut-off denim shorts.

One of my favorites was always the A-main Line up shirts. It was always a must for me on Saturday afternoon to go get the shirt, put it on before the Saturday night races and laugh when people asked how the hell I had the line-up on my shirt already. Unfortunately I quit buying them because the graphics started to get REALLY cheesy. We'll see what they look like this year.

I actually haven't bought a Nationals shirt for the last 2 years, because none have caught my eye. Guess it's a sign of getting old, but there seems to be too much "going on" in the designs anymore. I would really like to see some toned down versions this year, but doubtful. If not, guess I'll stick to strictly driver shirts again.

I have a 2 year old son that wears that same kind of shirt, i thought it was funny and full of class when a kid wears it. Maybe someday you'll see the humor.

Two of the funniest (and coldest) shirts I've seen are the made up shirts by some small screen printer of Calvin , of Calvin and Hobbes, with a #1 helmet that says "I can't believe I hit the push truck" and one that said " We want Erin Crocker on the pole". Crude but I had to laugh.
